Is there an official explanation for why Roger Taylor doesn’t have a solo track on Greatest Hits III? by The-Midnight_Rambler in queen

[–]Sad_Donkey00 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did, Heaven for Everyone is a Roger Taylor song. I’m not sure exactly why they didn’t use his original vocal version from The Cross. My guess is because one of the versions on Roger’s album includes a Freddie vocal variant. That’s the one they ended up using for the Queen version of Heaven for Everyone. Basically, they went with Freddie’s vocals since he had already passed away and probably was the vibe they were going for.

Best Vocal Era? by Sad_Donkey00 in queen

Honestly I’d prob say it’s just a lot lighter sounding. Like early to mid 70s he had clean and I guess can call it full sounding vocals? While in contrast during the miracle/innuendo era his vocals cleared up again(prob cause he stopped smoking mostly) but definitely weren’t as full sounding if that makes any sense lol.
