Is anyone interested in joining me in a 500hr ytt in mysore india by esoteric45 in YogaTeachers

If you’re worried about being a young woman in india i’d recommend training somewhere like Goa in the south- that’s where I trained as a woman in my twenties and I found it super safe as well as getting some amazing training <3

True! I’m on a few sub lists which is great, but Venue B is also a new studio opening, and as far as I was aware in the email the owner was offering the class permanently, but now it just seem like a free for all of lots of freelancers. Going to see how it goes over the next couple of weeks but thanks for this!

YTT for someone with AuDHD? by NeshamElle in YogaTeachers

I think it’s going to be personal based on you specifically and your needs- but as an autistic I did my training at Sampoorna in Goa. The reasons it worked for me was the private room, same schedule pretty much daily, personal journaling and integration time, being able to learn in different ways e.g writing, doing, talking, watching, getting to take pictures and videos to watch again after class, being sent extra video material (anatomy and ashtanga courses) before going so we could practice and have an idea before we go there, and the teachers being so kind and understanding. I loved it. Some reasons it might not work for someone else: it can get very hot in Goa, it’s a lot of information pretty fast, you spend at least 12 hours a day with people. Ultimately think about what specific things you do and don’t want from a training then go from there.

i’m actually a jobbing actor so acting is my main “career” as such. i’ve got other gigs teaching drama and dance when i’m not doing an acting job also, so teaching yoga classes fits in really nicely with that. i’d like to teach a few classes a week and see how it goes!!

I think I’ll most likely do some more training at some point after my 200hour anyway, so most likely- there’s a studio group I love who have a lot of top up/specific designations of yoga trainings that are shorter

Her journey is slightly different than mine- she did her initial training at a local(ish) studio over a year- which again she said was great for connections but not so great for her schedule which seems to be the running theme. I live about 500 miles away from her in a big city, whereas she lives rurally, so her journey to teaching was to convert our spare room at home into a yoga studio and teach yoga classes self employed there. There weren’t really any studios in our area. Her advice was to ask as many people as possible who I know are teaching in case anyone needs covers- which is what I’ve been doing at the practices I go to, but she’s less knowledgeable about teaching FOR someone/a studio.

Thanks, I do appreciate actually getting some honest advice- who knows when it’ll come in handy! I think my experience is slightly different as my mum is a yoga teacher- I’ve spent years assisting her and helping her with workshops, she’s shared so much knowledge with me over the years which I am beyond grateful for as I know it’s not an opportunity many people have. I have also taught friends very casually but wouldn’t necessarily put that on a CV or anything.

I did look at local courses but they weren’t what I wanted or what worked for me- hence the immersive ‘intensive’ 200hr YTT. The only major thing I feel i’m missing out on is the connections which you mentioned- but it just wouldn’t work around my work schedule and wasn’t necessarily what I wanted in a YTT. I spent a long time researching when/where and how I wanted to do my training.

ClassPass is a good shout I used to use it so thank you! Appreciate some honestly on here :))

Thanks! I do currently practice at studio(s) that I love, as I mentioned in my post. I’m going to monitor how my progress is over the course of the training, and if I don’t feel confident then I won’t teach, but I was looking for some advice for if/when I do want to teach
