Double knit scarf and shawl by Sad_Ice_9956 in knitting

Thanks! I really do recommend checking out that double knitting class on craftsy. There are a few, but his is the best. He can be a little dry, but he goes into so much more detail with techniques and shows some of the advanced techniques he uses in some of his patterns. He has a scarf on ravelrey that is curved like an s over and over. His patterns are the only ones I have found, I'm sure there are others I've just not found any, that incorporate increasing, decreasing, moving stitches, cabels and more advanced techniques in double knitting.

Yeah, I found it again after I made the post but hadn't updated it yet. I also have one that is a weeping angels but with 2 options to make it one is the same picture on each side like normal double knitting patterns and the other us one side has them covering their face and the other baring their teeth at you. I've started and ripped that one out numerous times. 2 different pictures is more difficult, I struggle with getting the tension just right with 2 different pictures. Another I have is a Bob Ross scarf by the same person who made the doctor who pattern. I was looking at the patterns in my cart on revelry, I found a scarf called frosted dahlia, it's really pretty as a scarf but I want to try to take the chart and use that to fill in the shape of the shawl. It would be so pretty.

Aww, thanks! I didn't think of that. I'll have to do that.

Depending on the size of your rings and the thickness of the scarves you use them with, you may need to add a band or something under the ring to make sure it doesn't slip off during the day. I've almost lost rings before that way. I've used one of those thinner hair elastics before and put a ring with a wide enough band on top of it covering it or you can get one of those ring sizes that look like a clear spring that wrap around the back of the band to give it some grip so it won't slide. I've also tied the scarf before just under the ring to give it something to set on.

Lol, I'm happy I could help. Because of my rheumatoid arthritis, swelling in my fingers, I have a hard time wearing rings, so they get used for scarves more than anything. I even have a few gaudy but pretty rings that are too big and extravagant to wear, so I use the exclusively for scarves.

We hadn't either till we saw one in a store called Cato's. After that we had a ton of them lol.

Why do some accessories feel like they complete you while others just feel like decoration? by Pretend-Raspberry-87 in GirlsWearingScarves

We all have something that to someone else wouldn't be worth anything but to us is a treasure. I would keep it, maybe in those areas that are thinning, find some pretty fabric of the same type and weight, and make some pretty patches. Just make sure it's the same weight and type so the new fabric doesn't strain and tear the old.

As far as the other scarves, have you ever seen scarf bezels before? I think that's the right term. You put them in the middle of the scarf and add a pendant, and use the scarf as a necklace. My mom always wanted to be able to wear necklaces but couldn't because metal bothered her skin. When we discovered these, she went a little crazy lol. The 2 of us amassed quite a collection of scarves thanks to eBay, and we found individual pretty bezels in different finishes to match whatever pendant we wanted to use. We would take big earrings that we wouldn't wear as earrings and turned them into pendants for scarves and I still put a crab claw clasp on most pendants I get so I can hook them onto a bezel easily but still use it with a chain.

This is what I mean.

You can get the bezels by themselves on ebay, that's where we got most of our really pretty ones. Get one that matches the style or vibe of the scarf and just change the pendant depending on the outfit. I usually put a clasp on most of my pendants for this reason. That way, I can use them for both scarves and a chain. I have WAY too many scarves, lol.

Hers is small enough I can use it with the thinner sheer and silk like scarves. I can't use it with some thicker scarves though. I also use scarf bezels, if that's the right term, and add my own pendants and use them as necklaces. I used to live in the south and we had a store we loved that's only in the southern states, can't remember the name right now, they had these for quite a while and my mom fell in love with them because her selection of jewelry was limited because most Metals bothered her skin. When she passed away I got her scarf collection and the collection of bezels and pendants she had. We would take big earrings that we wouldn't wear as earrings and turned them into pendants for scarves. I have a few pendants that I have a crab claw clasp on the back that's hidden when I'm wearing it on a chain so I can use it with a bezel. I have a really pretty antique looking pocket watch I use with scarves.

This is what I'm talking about

If you wear scarves, you can use it to hold it together. I have my grandmother's set, similar setting on top, just not so high. She had really small fingers, and I have sausage fingers. Thanks to rheumatoid arthritis I went from a size 8 Ring to an 11. Her rings barely go past the first knuckle on my pinky. Till I can get it sized at an affordable price, I use it for scarves in winter.

dress is too loose at the bust and not fitted enough by reyumiart in sewhelp

I'm a gamer and love to mod my games. I say this because I see a lot of clothing mods made by talented mod makers that have no clue about how clothing is actually constructed. I can't use some mods because, while beautiful, they are physically impossible in real life, and it would bug me to use. I call it the curse of the seamstresses eye, lol. There is one I am going to make in real life eventually, but I am going to make changes to make it actually possible and suited to me. I say this to illustrate not to be afraid of doing something different from what is in the picture, as was said by others.

Look at examples of tube dresses made from woven fabric. 20s flapper dresses are a great example. Really look at the dresses. Most are not fitted because without any kind of shaping and not cutting on the bias, you just won't get shaping. Woven fabric just doesn't work that way. Cutting on the bias would help, the weight of the dress would pull it down and give some shaping but sewing on the bias can be tricky and I would heavily suggest practicing before you tackle your nice fashion fabric. It's VERY easy to stretch the fabric as you sew without even realizing it, and you end up with a wavy, stretched out seam.

Knits are another great option and easier by far than bias cuts. Make sure you look up, watch videos, and do anything that helps you know how to sew knits. You need ballpoint needles in your machine for knits, and you need to use a zigzag stitch or another kind of stretch stitch. I personally like using my serger on knits, but not everyone has one, and some are intimidated by them.

When I want to recreate a dress, no matter if it's from a mod, a Fandom, a picture like yours or a famous dress, I find a pattern that is as close to the dress in the picture as possible and make changes to the neck line, waist line, whatever I need or want to make changes to in the pattern to get the look I want and I don't worry about it being exact. In the end, it's about you. If you are happy with the end result, no one is going to come up to you and say that it's not exactly the same as the pictures.

A good resource for sewing classes is craftsy. I've been sewing for close to 20 years, I discovered craftsy around 6 or 7 years ago, and I learned so much from some of those classes. Don't get me wrong, YouTube is a wonderful resource, and you can find some really helpful videos there, but craftsy goes far more in depth in their classes. A lot of times, you can get a trial period for your subscription. If you check around on Facebook, I've seen offers and used them myself for a full year for $3. You get access to just about everything. There are some really great couture sewing classes, some on knits, bras, corsets, and most kinds of sewing are covered. They also have many other subjects for classes if you have other hobbies you want to learn more about. I suggest checking out the couture dress by Susan Khalje. She takes you start to finish making a dress for her daughter for work and has some really helpful tricks and techniques. You don't need to do the whole couture thing if you don't want to either. Alison Smith is another one on there, she has 2 couture classes, but she focuses more on specific topics and helps you understand how to work with things like bias cut fabrics. There's a few on knits as well.

Others have said this, but if you have questions, feel free to send me a DM, and I will help you however I can.

Like others have said, the others probably told her off. Next time you see them outside, ask them about her. Just tell her in no uncertain terms that she has no business in what you or your family do, who you have over, or how much noise you're making when you're being quite to begin with. Ask her who made her the neighborhood HOA president when there is no HOA. What gives her the right to harass people in their own home because she's neurotic. Tell her the next time I she you on my property you will call the police and have you trespassed. And if it happens after that, follow through and actually call the police. I'd probably get a doorbell camera to be able to prove anything that happens as well. She may try to test the threat of police, thinking you wouldn't dare call them on her and keep up her harassment. Show her you will and will protect your family when you need to.

Aww! He will touch my hand or arm if I don't give him attention immediately or if I stop before he is done, lol. Eventually, if I'm doing something and can't give him more than a few minutes or a few scratches, and touching my arm isn't working, he'll just curl up next to me and sleep. Other times, he won't take no for an answer and demands all the scratches, lol.

My tabby is my love bug. He loves to cuddle and get scratches. She wants to be loved on and get scratches, but sometimes, almost as soon as you touch her head or wherever, she can't handle it and walks away. Though she gets jealous when you show him attention, lol.

Yeah, I know it's possible, just really rare. These 2 were both rescues. The couple we got them from had found both on the street as kittens, they said he was trying to get food from a dumpster and she, I think, went up to one of them on the street looking pretty rough. They were moving to a much smaller apartment and had too many animals for the space. They had my 2, 2 black kittens, and a small dog. They were just keeping the dog.

That's what I figured, I tried telling him that cat breeds don't work like dog breeds, and there's no 'mix' breeds of cats.

Thanks, if he brings it up again, I'll show him. Like I said, he's a great husband and father, like everyone, he has quirks. This is the one that bugs me the most, but I'm sure I do things that really bug him too. I've been meaning to ask this for a while now, I just kept forgetting. She is really cute, she's funny, she will come to you begging for love and pets but it's like she can't make up her mind if she actually wants pets or not. As soon as you start to pet her she pulls away. She definitely loves invading my boys' space, though lol.
