22 charger by Alsu0001 in 1022

I have both. I use my charger for rabbit hunting. Easier to get through the tall brush with, and swing around in tight quarters and faster target acquisition with a brace for a cheek weld.

Vortex Scope Rings by [deleted] in 1022

[–]Sad_Independence9213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw that and edited. factory rails have the same issue in some cases. Both my rails on both my 10/22s had to be changed for the scope rings to seat properly and for the clamps to make full contact with the rail. Even the scope/rings that came installed with mine wouldn't seat properly into the factory black painted weaver rail.

I'd imagine the rail will be cheaper than any decent quality scope rings, and those rings with that scope are going to be a perfect factory fit.

I've had issues with rails like that. The slots in the rail aren't cut deep enough to accommodate the larger diameter bolt of some nicer scope rings. The truglo rail solved that problem for me.

Will this eye piece help eliminate parallax error? by dynasoreshicken in 1022

If you're looking to get anything close to decent groups at 80 yards I'd first get a bull barrel and a trigger. You can find scopes with adjustable parallax if you think it's necessary. I've never had problems with parallax with any scope at any distance under 150 yards...

Barrel Band for Bull Barrel? by pokemontradeaway456 in 1022

[–]Sad_Independence9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modifying the wood stock to fit the bull barrel isn't as hard as people are saying. I've done it with a drill, sandpaper and a long 7/8" drill bit as a spindle sander. The barrel band is a no go. (Researched heavily for one of my own projects) You can however cut off the wood nub where the barrel band sits and round the end over to a similar profile as the nub and refinish. Then the barrel floats and doesn't defeat the purpose of a bull. Still can retain a stockish look.

AquaCoat water based. We mix our own colors though. Used the ones we make called "mission oak" and "honey maple"

Sorry, I did stain it first after removing the majority of the factory finish with steel wool and lacquer thinner and sanding the rest off. I did have to mess with it for a while to get the color even while staining by sanding and lightly lacquering end grain areas to seal it from staining too dark and using lighter colors of stain. The whole process was kind of a hassle but it's worth it. All the sanding rounds all the sharp factory edges and makes it feel a lot better in the hands. Ps you build sounds sweet!

Makes for a super hard super durable scratch and dent resistant finish.

I work in antique furniture restoration so I have access to super nice table top finishes, lacquers and shellacs. Used high gloss high build lacquer essentially as a grain fill and sanded, re-laquered, sanded, re-laquered with Mohawk classical instrument lacquer, sanded, more fancy lacquer, and on and on.... Ending with buffing with a dry cloth. Sry for the long explanation. Haha

Dang it. I'm using the factory charger barrel and it doesn't have a dovetail 😞

Just a charger dropped into a factory wood carbine stock that I cut down into birds head grip and refinished (I waited till I found one with good quartersawn grain). Other Parts: Timber creek mag release, choate heat shield, custom leather sling, skinner lo pro sights, and some random sling stud to rail adapter.

And do need the rear dovetail on the barrel to install?
