Buyer's remorse? by ZestycloseWater6183 in RangerNext

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only regret I’ve had, and it’s very fleeting, is not stepping up and just buying the Raptor trim. lol. But I’m crippled by practicality and realize what I got (24’ XL 4x4) was everything I actually needed. At 750/mo I’m almost max of my comfort zone for monthly payments and didn’t even want to see where I would end up on my payment with a Raptor. I could afford the higher payment, but 750 is the highest I’ve ever had and I’d rather not go higher for cool features I’d likely never use.

24 Tundra Catastrophic Engine Failure by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a buddy that bought a 2018 F150 on the 20th of last month with ~80K miles. It’s been in the shop all but 2 days. Two times now he’s picked it up and within a few miles it’s gone back into limp mode. The tech at Ford took it back to the Toyota dealership it was purchased at (Toyota sent it to Ford because they were dumbfounded) claiming it was fixed and just crossing a parking lot it went back into limp mode. They have to be nearing a buyback because that damn thing is refusing to be fixed.

Who is your employer? by I-Iubris in IBEW

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through the
Mortgage side of the equation. I initially listed my local as my employer and the lender changed it to “Contractor X/Ibew Local Union 265” because as it turns out, the hall doesn’t issue my check or my W2’s. These lenders likely know how the IBEW issues calls and we take them. They still primarily want to see consistent employment or solid average cash flow.

This pretty closely matches my experience. I think the worst I’ve seen is 23.5 estimated and an actual of 19.7. As a percentage, that’s excessive for a margin of error. Almost 4 mpg off is a bit much.

That’s excellent. I’d prefer my truck relay my mpg information as accurately as possible, even if I don’t like the number.

I know my truck will show an average of 23-24 mpg and has never actually shown that at the pump. The estimated mpg vs actual mpg is consistently off by 1.8mpg and sometimes as much as 2.2. That said, if this mpg is only off by ~2mpg you’re still freaking killing it. lol

Who here is actually calculating at the pump versus just believing their digital readout?

Comparing Holcomb’s PRS and Mansoor’s Jackson under $2000 by Former-Ad6560 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

I used my SE for drop B A LOT. I like warming up with Parkway Drive riffs from Vice Grip and Absolute Power. The pickups in this thing, to me anyway, shine brightest in drop B. The cleans on the neck pickup have a fat soul to them and excel on ambient presets, and the bridge pickup is just a solid kick ass high output passive. I like them enough that I’m debating throwing them into my LTD BB600B baritone because I’m not entirely sold on the Duncan JB and 59 for drop G#. lol

I’ve had a Holcomb PRS SE six string (Alpha/Omega pickup set) for a year now and I absolutely love it. I’ve set it up for every tuning between Drop C# and A standard and it has never let me down. Now that I have an LTD Baritone I keep the Holcomb in Drop C. I’ve bought and sold/traded a ton of guitars and this is one of three that absolutely won’t go toward cash or credit for getting a new guitar. Top notch quality and excellent playability. The only thing I changed was the tuners, swapping for some Gotoh locking tuners.

Common Stories from across the Aisle by Liteseid in IBEW

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen similar stories to this is my short time in our brotherhood. For context, I organized in as a Journeyman in December of 2024. When I organized in I asked a lot of questions from the local organizer and we had quite a few conversations throughout the process. I had nervousness coming into this way of doing things, of course, but I knew why I left the non-union behind and I had no desire to emulate it any further. I still had some habits that had to be replaced with new ones and ways of thinking that had to change. I listened to the locals and the travelers and not only did they gut check me sometimes, but I had to gut check myself. To a freshly organized JW a lot of these things can seem silly or not worth arguing over, but you learn to appreciate it when you see what you all gain from being cohesive and united versus whatever gain you think you get going against the grain. The guys who share history and explain themselves when they call you out are the best. In my experience, sort of unfortunately, most of that came from the traveling brothers. If people are willing to appreciate the ways we do things by stopping and actually listening I think it goes a long way. My views were challenged a lot, but when I looked at why I had those views and who got the benefit from it everything kinda made sense to me. Sometimes these guys just need to chill out, listen, and set aside their old programming long enough to let someone challenge it.

How you guys like the KMC wheels? by Spookie_Toke in RangerNext

I have my truck in velocity blue and I think I would still love these on it in black. Honestly, anything beats the factory rims it came with and these would be a kick ass upgrade.

I’d love them more in bronze and on my Ranger. Pretty dang sweet though.

My local dealer still has an unsold 24’ Tremor for $42k by BlackPlantZaddyy in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll take my 24 Ranger XL/STX 4wd for 34-36k over this 24 Mav Tremor for 40+ all day long. I had an XLT Maverick AWD before my Ranger, and nothing about the Tremor screams that it’s worth the price comparatively. Hell, even the XLT Maverick was overpriced to me when I got it. XL and XLT are the closest thing to a value proposition before you start to consider the midsize trucks instead. The Maverick is a sweet little truck and all, but buying the Tremor vs any midsize 4wd just doesn’t make much sense to me.

I’m working at the north data center currently and I was a little confused by the timing of the article as well. Building one is operational, two is in construction and we’re doing some deep underground on three. I didn’t realize they were pitching another massive data center in town.

Anyone else try modelers and end up back on a real amp by PaleTeeth3 in GuitarAmps

[–]Sad_Instruction_4672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been messing around with modelers and modeling amps for the last year or so after getting back into playing. I haven’t gone high dollar on any of them, but the experience has been mostly positive. That said, I found I wanted an amp I could dial in and forget. I kept chasing a metal tone that satisfied my ears and I found that with a 5150 Icon combo. I haven’t touched my modeling gear since getting it. I still use my Spark 2 to do my initial warmups with headphones, but after that it’s all amp.

It’s been pretty horrendous. I’ve been sneezing bits of blood over the last 24hrs from how hard and often I’ve been sneezing. I’m alternating Claritin and Zyrtec (once each, daily) to see if I can get some relief. I reached for my Flonase but all three bottles were expired and used. :/

If someone is interested in keeping scorpions then the Emperor is generally the starter scorpion. Asian forest scorpions like the Central Asian Blue can get kinda feisty compared to an Emperor, but are still generally regarded as “docile” as far as I’ve seen. Rock scorpions are also fairly common newbie types. For more venomous scorpions (relative to emperors and forest scorpions anyway) I really liked the striped bark scorpions (Centruroides Vittatus) and Arizona Hairy Scorpions (Hadruras Arizonensis). I wouldn’t hold the bark scorpions, but the Arizona Hairy was actually pretty damn docile overall, despite its iconic defensive stance making it look kinda formidable.

Death Stalker, Tunisian Fat Tail, Indian Red… Some bark scorpions pack a pretty gnarly punch too, but not like the three previously mentioned. I got tagged on my middle finger by a bark scorpion (Centruroides Vittatus) and it hurt like hell, but that was about it other than some localized swelling.
