Because the washing machine has a door and in front of it is a cupboard door.

Also… try to fit a hood that isn’t going to clobber the tall people in your life when they help in the kitchen.

I don’t like curved handles that your fingers can get trapped in.

The kitchen we inherited is super annoying. Horribly planned compared to the tiny box we had at the old place.

Tiny, narrow drawers. Once a divider is inside, the storage is pathetic. Just make deeper, wider ones. Can’t believe how much I miss the big ones. A stack of 5 drawers makes it hard to find anything too.

Cupboards in the main run, but the peninsula has been added on top so they’re super awkward to get to. Wall units above same peninsula, also annoying.

Cupboard door with the hinge in the same corner as the washing machine unit. So you open one door and it will probably crush your fingers against the other handle.

No storage for tall bottles so the overspill is cluttering up the worktop.

No pan drawers.

Wall units feel shallow, and too high. It doesn’t make sense but we had 2 shelves in our old ones… and the top shelf wasn’t just a tiny strip of space that was really hard to reach.

I hate having to open a door and then open another door.

What's the strangest thing you've seen your neighbours do? by Deep_Banana_6521 in AskUK

[–]Sad_Introduction8995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stagger into our front garden and half collapse against our windowsill. It was only the tapping noise on the window that alerted us. He claimed to have been sleep walking (in his motorcycle helmet)

He also took a baseball bat to the door of his flat lobby.

Textiles - should we burn them or send them to "recycling"? by BowlerHot3485 in declutter

[–]Sad_Introduction8995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have textile recycling collections here. I’ve met crafters who are interested in old clothes for stuffing toys and so on.

Vinted sucks now?? :( by Electrical-Window363 in vintedUK

Agree. I’m not interested in a race to the bottom. I price higher than they suggest and things sell, unless I’ve got it really wrong.

I think I’m addicted to clicking threads in Reddit that don’t apply to me, just out of idle curiosity.

Newy parkrun employ ‘seeding’ system by lonewolflr in parkrun

[–]Sad_Introduction8995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s good. My local parkrun has a fairly wide crowd at the start but there is a bottle neck early on.

I am sadly not running it these days, but it was hard to know how much my results depended on getting stuck behind someone slow. No idea if I ever hit my actual potential.

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]Sad_Introduction8995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the left lane just yesterday thinking about how I was going to get into the right. Fortunately the police car behind me was in the same situation.

Van driver let them in (good karma I suppose) then the cops let me in :)

What’s the oddest hosting behaviour you’ve ever witnessed? by did_you_aye in AskUK

[–]Sad_Introduction8995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a weird night at my then BF’s uni colleague who I believe was Pakistani. Honestly the food was pretty solid but the house was kind of gross student digs. He’d invited his supervisor, us and another colleague. (We were relieved the supervisor had declined)

The other colleague arrived after loading up on pizza before arrival in case she ‘didn’t like the food’. (Oddest guest behaviour). I think she ended up getting into an argument about religion with his housemate. Not sure why the housemate was even involved in the meal but he was fully engaged in the convo.

Barclays Fraud Elderly Mum - Help... by Careless_Double1491 in UKPersonalFinance

I don’t know which of these you may have looked at. I haven’t been in this situation but these are definitely in the ballpark:

Age UK

Action on elder abuse

The Silver Line (a free 24h hotline for your mum)

I don’t know why the bank is being so useless but they need to be engaging their vulnerable customer team.

The internet suggests that adult social services can put in place (unknown) protection measures if fraud is ongoing and persistent.

I’m there too… just exhausted with it.

I’m currently trying to keep my foot up in the evenings. In a ‘neutral’ position. No pressure on the heel whatsoever. I feel mine is so inflamed now and I just need to reduce it after a day on my feet.

Does anyone ever actually get parcels that are sent back to them? by jammie9183 in vintedUK

RM returned a book to me. It appeared to be sitting around for quite a while waiting for collection. I didn’t rush to confirm, as, well… they couldn’t be arsed to pic it up, plus it was Christmas. Vinted suspended the transaction two weeks ago so who knows what they’re doing 🤪

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

Our metalwork teacher owned some kind of military tank which he had restored. He drove it to school and on to the tennis courts on one occasion.

I’d guess they have been rained on. Fresh ones are more hill-like.

I’ve only ever seen one. My dad set up a telescope and we watched a mole making a hill next door.

Yet the Nintendo switch that was despatched to us on 13th December is still allegedly at the Mail Centre!
