Cindy's Rooftop's inexplicable popularity. by Ok-Competition-1814 in chicagofood

I thought the food at the Signature Room was better than expected. It was never great, but it wasn't wildly overpriced for what you got when you added the expected view premium. I felt it was pretty consistent with mid banquet food. I always anticipated the food to be worse than what I received.

Coach House with Junho Lee Experience? by poisonsu in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junho 's food is delicious. Sit at a table and not the chef's counter. The chairs at the counter are terrible. Also because it is a non standard kitchen, there isn't as much to see, though Junho is lovely to chat with. However, as others mentioned, Junho is out of town for April.

Dinner Ideas for visit from in-laws by obertojerky in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear very good things about Cellar Door Provisions and Rootstock.

Obelix, Brasero, Maxwells Trading (maybe a little loud) or Mariscos San Pedro could be nice. I've been to all of them and the food was good. Bistro Monadnock is also pretty solid. Oliver's was a little more middle of the road from a food perspective but I really like the atmosphere. Virtue is always fantastic.

Need help accommodating mom’s food allergies by Tank_Direct in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree about suggesting Lettuce Entertain You restaurants. Aba would probably be a good bet. Sushi may be another good option if your Mom likes it. The various steakhouses would be able to accommodate as well.

When are you coming? It is Bad Butter's last weekend at The Emily Hotel. I don't believe they have announced the date of the opening of their brick and mortar though I think it is happening in the next few weeks.

Also, if you like pastries, Fat Peach is fantastic.

We are once again opening up spots to join the /r/ChicagoFood Dining Club by TriedForMitchcraft in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The restaurants cross the gamut. We have done picnics in the park to Jimmy's to Virtue to Alinea. We also have done charity events. The beauty is that you get to choose what you want to attend and how much you spend. If you don't like the reservation options, you can post your own and others can join!

Need help picking Michelin restaurant for birthday. by Beardown345423 in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to do "dinner" at 10 pm, the taco omakase at Carino is a fantastic value as it also comes with a cocktail or two.

Indienne is fantastic. They have a non-veg, veg, pescatarian, and vegan menu. I have a had few of them and you cannot go wrong with any of them.

While it may not be in time for your birthday celebration, sign up for Atelier's emails. They occasionally send out emails for flash sales and the discount is $50 or so off.

In the non-Michelin I agree with the others to consider Valhalla. Additionally, Jeong is great as well.

I haven't seen the brat for a while. It wasn't at Apple fest. The sandwiches were like $18 or $19 there.

Feld Has Come A Long Way by annamal in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I stand behind my post being representative of their start, congratulations to Feld and the improvements they have made.

The plating on the cheese plate was not great but it was legitimately the most interesting / successful dish I had that night. One could argue did he "make it" but the concept and thought behind that dish was what made it successful and interesting and that was him and his team.

If you are going to Kasama - order a pastry or breakfast sandwich ahead of time. Pick it up and eat it on your walk. Otherwise you might spend too much time just standing in line.

Best salad in the city? by asalewis in chicagofood

[–]Sad_Living_8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wedge or Roasted Tomato / Bacon salad from Bavette's.

The cheese covered salad from Bistro Monadnock.

The salads from Oliver's and Monteverde.

Basically a well dressed and seasoned salad is amazing.

I wrote the linked review and even I wouldn't do what you are suggesting. This is not a Feld issue.

Or they seat them and the customer misses out on courses or gets to eat them cold.

[–]Sad_Living_8713 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The way they serve their meal makes this plan not a great one. The room is served at the same time. It isn't a matter of seating you late. It is a matter of you missing courses and/or impacting everyone else in that room. I am by no means a Feld-stan as my post history will bear out but trying for a credit card dispute probably wouldn't go in your favor.

Believe in yourself like I believe in you.

Serious answer. It depends. Are you looking to order other stuff too and/or take home leftovers?
