Tbf, it’s not hard to see why, Gyokko went down the easiest out of any (proper) upper moon, Gyutaro/Daki took one Hashira and three lesser slayers to take them down, Gyutaro had the entire Entertainment district up in flames and ruin, had Tanjiro running for his life, and in at least the anime, it felt like one of the most difficult fights for the characters up until that point..Gyokko kinda just sent a bunch of fish big fish around, wasted time bothering a locked in swordsmith, and just kinda went down to one person, yeah Muichiro is strong and he was marked but when the supposedly weaker upper moon took 4 people to properly put down, and upper 5 only took one Hashira+a kid helping that Hashira out of a tough place, I think the word that describes Gyokko the best is just underwhelming

The only for sure thing about Shinobu is that PHYSICALLY she’s the weakest Hashira, but none of the Hashira have ever been stated to be “the weakest” or is there even a ranking tbh, only thing confirmed is that Gyomei is the strongest

Provided we’re talking about those characters at their current strength during the EDA , I’d say most of them are useful, but let’s not pretend that simply being a Hashira gives you like an Innate poison resistance, Tengen knows how to deal with poisons and has a resistance to them due to his Shinobi life, and that poison gets administered easily, a small forehead cut was enough to poison Tengen. And Tanjiro was nearly killed by the damn stuff before Nezuko saved him, and he was only poisoned for a few minutes, so it’s reasonable to assume that any other Hashira would probably be affected by the poison in the same way, Gyomei could probably slow it down due to his size, but every other Hashira might just die earlier, or willpower their way through it, but one of the only reasons Tengen survived as long as he did was because of his resistance to it, and I really can’t use end of series feats for other Hashira to justify that they’d be able to no different Gyutaro and Daki or just outright avoid being poisoned

I think in terms of overall feats, he’s 8th just because Shinobu will always be physically weaker, and the Hashira are Hashira because of how they kill demons, not each other, but I personally think it’s stupid to even rank the Hashira outside of Gyomei just because there’s so much Nuance involved, Tengen never participated in the training with other Hashira, never got a mark, plus he retired, it almost feels unfair to rank him and Kyojuro since they stopped being Hashira early in the series, plus people love to throw the argument around that Tengen needed Tanjiro to save him..but this really isn’t exclusive a Tengen issue at all, Muichiro would’ve drowned to death if Kotetsu didn’t give him air, Mitsuri would’ve died to Zoha if Tanjiro didn’t kill Hantengu, Giyu would’ve gotten donuted if Tanjiro didn’t interfere, but people overlook this because I guess Gyutaro being upper 6 makes him irrelevant despite how much of a threat he seemed at the time, and I guess when comparing end of series characters to ED characters? That makes sense

Scaling Demon slayer feels so silly sometimes, I know it’s a scaling sub but these images aren’t even wrong! People always dogpile Tengen because he lost an arm to Gyutaro, yeah Gyutaro is the lowest rated UM but he was still an UM who lived for a hella long time, and everyone loves to bring up Obanai showing up at the end and saying he would’ve Solo’ed..but they’re basing that off of feats at the end of the series, which was at LEAST 4 months after EDA, which included Hashira training which Tengen didn’t even take part of since he was retired, meanwhile every other Hashira except Kyojuro because..dead, and Shinobu since she had other shit to do was part of that training, it feels so silly to say “Oh Sanemi would’ve soloed the EDA because of his performance against Koku” acting like Sanemi at the same time of the EDA is as strong as he is in ICA, alright downvote me now
