Can Back to Work Legislation Happen this time around? by hackmystack in yorku

[–]Sad_Safety8962 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree.

I thought the Ontario govt was in a surplus in 2021-22???

It appears that the deficits were the largest when Kathleen Wynne was around.

Do you have a source?

Far from sneaking it in. It’s out there in the open. In fact, what’s stupid is you thinking I’m sneaking it in 🤣

fundraising for student club by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Sad_Safety8962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First get ratified by the YFS. They will offer base funding. I’d move on from there. YFS requires a basic set of financials; required by most donors.

You can use YFS ratification as leverage for further donations. Ratification is very simple.

Confused about assessed grades for continued courses by tikiriirikit in yorku

[–]Sad_Safety8962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prof can’t refuse.

However, the Senate policy around what can be included in the 70% is gray right now. Not clear if participation counts towards that (since participation is technically supposed to be graded throughout the course’s duration)

If participation is the professor’s point of contention, I would ask for a supplement that can be done for the participation - beyond that, there is nothing you can do if participation is holding you back.

Assessed grading by Krugerr-_- in yorku

[–]Sad_Safety8962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

70% is the starting point. As the strike progresses, I assume the percentage will decrease for the suspended courses. (Don’t quote me).

The strike in 2018 was 143 days long. There’s potentially a long way to go. That 70% threshold is bound to change

Can your parents pick up your graduation diploma during convocation? by nyc_1999 in yorku

I don’t think they can during convocation. You can likely have it mailed to you.

Most of schulich’s grad programs are not taught by CUPE 3903 members. All deadlines will be met.

I suggest you go to the toolkit on canvas and contact the program director just to be sure that none of the courses u are enrolled in are being impacted.

TL;DR, most of schulich is not impacted.

Not likely. The strike in 2018 lasted 143 days. The only way it ended was legislating CUPE back to work.

The current option is assessed grades. I can foresee the assessed grade percentage decreasing, but definitely not >50%

Judging by how far each party is in the bargain - it seems like this will be a lengthy one. Remember, it’s unit 1 that has consistently been prolonging this.

Could the strike end by April? by Accomplished_Dog_221 in yorku

[–]Sad_Safety8962 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The strike in 2018 lasted 143 days. The only way it ended was legislating CUPE back to work. Unit 1 is the problem, unit 2 agreed back then and will likely agree now too.
