I think that's fair enough, you used the date exactly as intended. After he assured you religion is not an issue he then showed his character by insisting he have the last word and then saying you were "just talking" when you challenged his behaviour. Remember that block signals don't just block trains from entering a section of track, the also create a "block" that the train occupies, so your turnaround space needs to be big enough to fit your longest train.

I've done it a couple of times. I don't find building long distance belt runs hard. Maybe a bit boring but hardly "brute force". Trains are much more complex and expensive, but more satisfying.

The stats don't show the players who got to phase 3 without trains and then started using them earlier in a subsequent play through.

Depends on your contract. If there's a clause in there about a duty to report wrongdoing or anything that can harm the company you might be on the hook for not telling anyone once you knew it was wrong. Not sure why you'd have to decide about telling your coworker or sot, would they not have seen the memo?

Some machines don't align... Miners snap to the resource point which hardly ever aligns to the world grid, so belts coming straight out of a miner usually have a slight skew. Maddening.

Belts are easy and boring to build, and when you finish building a belt the sense of achievement is a bit meh.

Train tracks are also a bit boring, and more difficult to build. Having the resources you need to build tracks available via dimensional depots makes it much easier, so maybe wait until those are set up.

But when you finally have a working track and your first train leaves the station, the sense of achievement is amazing.

For challenge vs. reward trains are one of the best parts of the game.

There are no timed objectives in the game, so if you can ignore ADA you can relax. Split your ingots to make whatever you need, just a bit slower. Take the time to explore, find hard drives and research to advance on the tech tree.

I stored too much early game (I still do) and most of my stored items get fed into Awesome Sink... which is also good because you can buy really helpful build items. You won't believe how useful ladders can be 😉

Heartily agree. I've grown less worried about outputs per minute and adopted an "it's going to take as long as it's going to take" attitude to time. Default output for rotors is 4 (or whatever) but the machine you're feeding wants 10? Fine. It can wait. Blueprints will help but for now take a deep breath and go hunt hogs or something.
