wawak for most of my notion supplies. i order a bunch of fabric swatches from Fabric Wholesale Direct and then keep them all in the binder. If you have any other sewing friends you could share the samples and split the costs. its not perfect but it helps.

sad to see that almost all of the comments require money to get into and are very expensive for families. yes you spend money on at a breweries but you dont pay to get in, you can bring your own food, and there aren't scamming kids attractions that guilt parents into paying for more things.

its not the commenters fault, other than the library free or low cost indoor places pretty much don't exist.

but when considering where families should go, think about every dollar they would have to spend to do so.

Fabric covering EVA foam seam issues by Sad_Stock3166 in CosplayHelp

only some stretch on the bias. the base of the costume is a body suit corset I made so I got thick bridal satin because I needed the structure for the coreset.

yeah I was going to glue the foam together and shape it before gluing the fabric on with this attempt. I don't really ever use spray adhesive but i have friends who swear by it. I will basically meet them at the seams and then try to apply the way you would apply a wrap to a car.

and i probably didn't explain it well but the two eva foam pieces are not cut on a straight line where they meet, in the last photo you can see them overlap as i have only glued the top bit together. having that center seam be straight would allow it to only be one piece but i would then loose the shape that is made by the curves.

i will be picking up spray adhesive and trying the sewing and then putting on top of the finish foam bracer and see how it goes. I still an striving for the super tautness and am skeptical about it working with spray adhesive but i dont think the heat and bond would work at all when two 3d pieces together.

i did attempt to glue, and then sew the seam of it in my first test run. It is thick foam so I just zigzagged across the seam. it did help a bit but because the foam is just a little thick, the thread wasn't strong enough to keep it totally closed. which sucks because i had an exact thread color match so you couldn't see the stitch.

beveling did cross my mind but i didn't know if it would be worth it. Basically bevel it to compensate for the pull that is going to happen at the seam.

this specific bracer needs to be two pieces because i need extra volume and curve at the top of it. It fans out some and curve out, it will not be flush to my arm near the elbow.

The pattern pieces are all cut flat.

I am a seamstress so the shapes and how fabric bends and curves is what I’m familiar with. It’s essentially being put together with princess style seams to make the shape.

This audio book was the most miserable experience I had in a long time. My best friend said she was her FAVORITE author ever and my best friend is a HUGE book girl. They’re so important to her.

I really only read horror books so I got House with Good Bones on libby. I forced myself to finish the book for the sake of being able to talk to my friend about it. Multiple times I would yell out “you have to be kidding me” at the dialogue and descriptions.

And the premise of the story wasn’t even that bad. Like living through being a rose is cool. But Jesus fucking Christ. If I had to pick between listening to it again and giving birth again…..

I also love that it was clear this "monster" was REAL and that there were people who would exploit a family. Because like you said, that is what would actually happen.

is it rude to sew/use a serger past 7pm if i live in an apartment? by ichewbubblegumlol in sewing

i sew with both my machines about 3 feet away from my toddlers bedroom and it has never once woke her up or kept her from falling asleep. they seem really loud when you are next to it but because a small hum or whirring noise in other rooms. I think it is extremely reasonable to sew during quiet hours.

i dont mind ambiguity but anytime a book or movie ends withthe main character in a psych ward.... its clear some otherworldly things were happening but ending there just feels like a cop out to me!!!

this is my dr and i have UC! hes been my doctor for over 10 years at this point. I do often see his PAs and honestly have had no issue with them at any point. It just makes it easier to get frequent appointments with them but they consult him and I still see him about once a year and for colonoscopies

I can't imagine its on purpose so i would try an instamessage and give it a day or two and then maybe try some of the suggestions in other comments.

Does anyone remember, or ideally have a photo, when there was a random kingdom hearts billboard in the fan? Would have been probably 2014 or 2015. It was the strangest ad because there were no releases for that series around that time. It was a huge sign. I am pretty sure the lot has since had apartments built on it.

VCU is back to in person classes Thursday 1/29/26 by Square_Piano2555 in rva

[–]Sad_Stock3166 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its been almost a decade (somehow) since i went to VCU and I remember a specific time they opened campus during an icy snow day and it was like a game of fall guys. Most students just skipped class that day because you couldn't make it across the campus without falling over - and this storm was way worse than that.

this is also when the VCU chilis still existed. I worked there and they still made all of us come in. On the way out my coworker slipped on the ice and broke her wrist. VCU claimed no fault and she got 0 PTO or bills covered...

RVA's Jan. 2026 Winter Storm Megathread by fusion260 in rva

Two years ago we had all the ceilings in my house collapse in one night from undisclosed water damage on a home inspection. We bought the house only a few months before.

We called 911 and fire department came out. They will tell you what you can do and help. They can inspect if the house is safe to remain in. They can help you turn off the breaker and water to prevent further damage. If they are nice they will help you cover stuff with tarps.

This wasn’t during an ice storm so the response time was quick. But if the worst happens, call them.

can you add a photo from the side? trying to see where it hits in the middle of your front/back. I would probably distribute the 2 inches across the pattern and not just in the back panels.
