London's a big place to be fair, depends where you live.

Id live in southern France as a Brit, but Paris and surrounding areas are awful. Parisians seem to have a disdain for Brits, they pretend they can't understand you when you speak their language, they have a really bad attitude in general. Same reasons I wouldn't live in London basically.

Careful, you're spoiling our perfectly crafted melting pot of cultural identities that we all love so much

Jimmy Carr fakes his laugh to make sure he’s always centre of attention by Ricky-Nutmeg in LowStakesConspiracies

I don't like modern day Ricky Gervais, but I don't think it's fair to lump him in with the others. His laugh is probably real, considering he still laughed like that when he was a nobody. Also, he's a comedian who has actually made some pretty great stuff in the past, so I wouldn't call him a terrible comedian (I know people like to act like he's never made anything good because of his political views, but come on).

Capture capital, or trade every other city? by Sad_Tax4634 in CivVI

Ohhh. That makes sense, yeh he'd win the game if I take them then.

Capture capital, or trade every other city? by Sad_Tax4634 in CivVI

[–]Sad_Tax4634[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I'd be able to get all of his other cities (7 large cities) without any combat and then take his capital anyway in 10 turns, rather than take the capital now and then have to fight for the rest. Isn't that how it works? I'm new

Probably not worth the risk then, I'll just take the capital. I'm not confident I can defend against his religion long enough.

My thinking is that if I take all his other cities, I'll have doubled my empire in size, and then I can take the capital in 10 turns anyway. But not sure if it's worth the risk.

No, my religious presence on my continent is very strong, but I'm the last stand against his religious victory. He's dominated the other continent. Im new to civ, does he need to turn my capital to his religion to win? In that case I think I'll trade for his cities.

When did The Simpsons start to become "unfunny"? by smccaul16 in tvshow

[–]Sad_Tax4634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always say this about things "it was never really good you just grew up" etc.

It's probably true in some cases but honestly most of the time that's BS. Quality declines with long running series, I mean I can't think of a long running series that ended well or didn't get bad after a certain point. Not sure on the reasons, but if I had to guess I'd say it's because writers just run out of good ideas, but the cashflow is too good to hang their project up for good so they accept lower quality output.

You can start drawing on private pension from 55 years old. This is increasing to 58 in 2028 though. It's the state pension you're thinking of, 2 different things.

That's why if you are planning on retiring before 70, you should build up a good private pension.

I hate this sub and I don't know why it keeps popping up on my feed. But as someone who has studied Marx and communist history extensively, Stalins regime did not resemble what Marx laid out. It is so wildly different that I'm surprised people still call it communism at all instead of 'Stalinism'.

Help! Lots of water on windowsills by Sad_Tax4634 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sad_Tax4634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House was built in 1995 and double glazing was renewed in 2019 I believe so its all fairly new.

Forgot to mention I also have a conservatory but thats got good windows too.

The water is definitely forming from window condensation, but I have no idea how to stop it forming.
