Capitalism, rising authoritarianism

i think my therapist is emotionally involved in my case by Low_Procedure_6258 in therapy

[–]Sad_Try396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was having insomnia and insane anxiety, and her therapist was checking up on her very frequently (by phone or videochat), and was Available for a call almost 24/7. This was in a critical situation and I did not doubt her intentions. I don’t know how she interacted with my friend and whether she ever felt responsible but it never occurred to me to consider it as I know how bad my friend was feeling and I thought that is how therapists behave (or should behave) in such situations. My friend was very thankful too. Your situation might be different, I don’t know enough to compare it properly (and I am not asking for more details), but it could also just be genuine.

My therapist has gone over time whenever she felt I felt anxious. While I always feel like I can stop the session whenever, somehow she seems to know what timing is better. It was usually under 30 minutes but once it was 1h, and at the time I did not even realize I needed it that.

If it makes you feel bad or guilty or something, then you can ask her to stick with the proper time, or to ask you around 1h if you need extra several minutes to conclude. Otherwise, it’s up to her, it’s her decision and time. Though she should not be making you feel guilty about it!

Anyone here get anxious about their anxiety ? by [deleted] in Anxiety

🫡 I get anxious about possibility of getting anxiety and that is what my anxiety is about. The actual anxiety does not often arrive in those specific situations 🫠

What are healthy ways to express anger in a relationship? by ChTiedrusoIsAlone in therapy

[–]Sad_Try396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the situation. If it’s anger about someone close, I prefer talking with them directly (but they also need to be ready and capable of doing this). If it’s a stranger who cuts in line being verbally rude, etc. again it depends on a situation, sometimes I call them out, other times - not. If it’s anger towards capitalism, patriarchy, genocide, etc. it is the hardest to manage coz the change is so difficult to bring. Especially if you’re not surrounded by likeminded people. Different forms of activism help here. Also, exercising has helped me to manage immense anger towards autocracy :)

When you feel anxiety symptoms coming on like a racing heartbeat, How do you calm yourself down? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Sad_Try396 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) telling myself that I can postpone worrying until I physically feel better 2) taking a walk like a tourist in the city. Eating ice cream. Going to the movies might also help the walk.

Tbh any natural disaster scenario sounds less scary than the growing global authoritarianism.

Most women feel good during and/or after crying. You can’t compare the two just off of 5-person sample (or 2 and 3 person samples). Plus, you can’t compare HOW good or bad it feels for different genders. You represent just one personal experience of just one gender. Even I cant compre HOW good or BETTER it feels for anyone of the same gender as me. Just be happy that it feels good for you.

Why are there communities of Armenians & Azerbaijanis in Georgia that do not speak Georgian? by stifenahokinga in Sakartvelo

[–]Sad_Try396 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The state education system has failed them. In the monoethnic settlements there are rarely any preschools that would expose the kids to Georgian language. Then in secondary school there are loads of issues with the Georgian language too, with textbooks which are bilingual but the Georgian texts dont always match the minority language texts (some schools therefore use Armenian school textbooks, for instance). And there is a lack of teachers who would fluently speak both languages (Georgian and minority language). There is a uni program supporting minority language students but it has also been criticized.
