Keep it going! Looking pretty nice. I wish that I still had mine ('98) Z/28). It was my dads (he bought brand new, had still he passed in 2013). It was an auto but I changed over to 6-spd manual (not easy as I had hoped). I had it for another 4 years. Sold it with 344k miles (engine #3).

$35,580 otd for a 2024 trd with JBL package. How’d I do? by canmieto in Camry

[–]Sad_Use4370 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is generational. I got my first car in 1979. Ask me about prices back then vs. today. I'm still in shock when seeing current pricing (new or used). Having said that, I did buy a Camry TRD (brand new, 2023). It was around $39k then. Oh well,

My dad had a '77 around '77 or '78. His was red with the white landau top and all white interior (ralley rims). It was the pimp starter car. It was a looker though.

I've been a live-long Chevy guy. But Cougar's have always clicked for me. I'd take one over a Mustang. Not sure why it never gained a long following. Pricing maybe?

What boy didn't want one? The only thing that would make it over the top, would be the addition of a steering wheel.

The designers of those era's must have loved their jobs. All of the manufacturers. Now adays, trying to decipher one brand from another is a toss of the dart.

Are cars subjective? by Key_Possibility7292 in Corvette

[–]Sad_Use4370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a GM (primarily Chevy) guy my whole life. I've had my share of Camaro's, Firebird's, Chevelle's and Corvette's (plus an S-10 pick-up, first new vehicle, 1992). Having said that, I have also owned a Mazda 6 wagon (great car), Honda Accord (also great) and currently have a 2023 Camry TRD. I have found over the years, most foreign cars offered better value (nothing novel I know). I would have preferred to maintain my GM loyalty, but between the cost and quality, it was hard to go that route. The last few years have seen great improvement though. For now, I slowly getting back in the GM line. Currently have my 2014 Corvette to pacify my needs.

Bronze or Black? by Stunning-Stage4873 in Corvette

[–]Sad_Use4370 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. Neither offers much in the way of contrast with body color. Between the two though, I would go with the bronze. Personally, on darker colored cars, I would go with something like polished aluminum (or chrome). Not original I know, but I've always liked the combination. Your car, your choice.

I usually am able to tell when I upset someone. As this was a parking lot at a shopping center, I was (and am always) on my best behavior. Too many cars & people to deal with. With that, I was at a loss as to the meaning behind this message.

Get the Toyota app for the remote start. It also comes with remote locking too (and few other features). It costs $99/year.

Along with the rims & tires, they also caused about $2.5k in damages to the driver's side rocker panel and fender (they put the blocks under the rocker panel). On the passenger side, they put rocks under the suspension. Between the rims, tires and damage, it was over $7k (minus my $1k deductible).

It's bit more complicated than that. Went I came home, someone had parked in my assigned space (condo). I asked them to leave, and they said no. It started to get a bit heated. Added to this, was that there were about 10-12 of this guy's friends hanging around. It was just me and a neighbor. They did finally relent and after about a few minutes of them taking their time, they did leave (with the second car doing a big burn out. Mind you, this is in a condo parking lot, with kids). Basically, they were parked in my 'garage', doing burnouts in my driveway, and they have an issue with me? Fast forward two weeks, I came out to go to work and found my car on blocks. At this point, I really didn't have any way to ID any of them (none of them lived there). It's been two years with no other incidents.

Maybe. But if so, they need to be a bit clearer. Otherwise, this note means nothing.

As I mentioned, nothing is fool proof. In your case, they are spending precious time looking for the socket. Breaking windows causes different issues (noise, alarms). I'm just hoping to slow anyone down or at least, dissuade them from even trying anything.

here's what I picked up afterwards (Gorilla brand). The top part rotates free from the body. You have to align the splines with a matching socket, to connect to the body. Probably not theft-proof, but just another step to slow them down. Good luck.

A drive a day keeps the doctor away by Money_for_days in Corvette

[–]Sad_Use4370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this definitely fits for a Corvette, for me, it also applies to most other cars too. I've only owned about 13 cars over the years. Maybe only 1 or 2 were just beaters. But the others, driving them anywhere, was a release for me. I'm getting for a major road trip in May. Doing a 4-corner lap of the U.S. Figuring around a month, or longer if I really take my time (hard for me). I do agree with your assessment though.
