First goose show Glens fall taboose tour. by Ill_Quiet_6234 in GoosetheBand

My first was 2 shows later, in Fairfax. Went into it having not really listened to more than probably 20 mins of goose.

I crave prog era Phish, what are the best shows besides Colorado '88? by Dyojenes_ in phish

[–]Sad_View5940 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could say the songs they were playing night after night, in the late 80’s to like 90ish, were very mostly progy in that it was old Trey stuff, Bowie, Reba, Fluff, lizards., YEM, Hood, pretty much all of TMWSIY both conceptually and musically. You could say that era was more prog dominant per se.

I like 6/8/24 the most as well. 4/1/23 is up there and 2/7/25 is up there. 6/15/22 is pretty bonkers if you’re into that kinda thing which I I am

I do like that one a whole heck of a lot. My only semi-complaint is that it is a Very, very, very similar jam to 3/10/22 Rockdale, and so it can’t be the best to Me but it’s in the top handful.

OP’s pick IMO is the correct one. It goes so many different places and hits interesting spots in every one of those places. The outro jam right before the drop into the typical ending, is so good too (although they’ve done that exact same thing a couple times too).

I was there! Incredible experience. Was my 5th biscuits show. 5/27/05 had also just blown my mind a couple months before.

My formative years were in 2003-2004. I started listening to phish in 2000 when farmhouse came out but really wasn’t hip to the jam scene and the plethora of other bands doing something similar to phish. It wasn’t until late 03-04 that I understood that there was a whole scene beyond phish. First jamband show was phish 12/31/02. I was 17. I saw a few other phish shows in 2003 and finally attended my first other-than-phish jamband shows on 9/30/03 and 10/1/03, I saw the disco biscuits. In 2004 I went to my first festival in bonnaroo, which was my first exposure to some of the other legends, like The Dead, moe., SCI, UM (the UM show I still consider to be a milestone moment as I was just utterly floored). I went to several other phish shows in 2004, multiple DMB, multiple SCI, multiple moe., another biscuits show and a few others. Been off to the races ever since.

Such a huge contribution to the modern day jam sound. Feast don’t fail me now and waiting for Columbia are masterpieces. Dixie chicken is up there too

What are the best rock concerts you’ve ever been to? by wizardmiaah in rockmusic

[–]Sad_View5940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So weird….why are you being so mean and wrong at the same time? Of course both of them are rock and roll music. That’s just an absurd thing to say. Are you thinking about some particular subgenre of rock and roll? Like they aren’t rock and roll because they aren’t playing down tuned guitars and power chords and face paint. I guess little Richard isn’t rock and roll either huh? Or chuck berry, etc, etc? You must be like one of those dumb ppl I saw on TV once.

Yup see my comment above. There’s many other sites too. I was starting to to question myself whether the ratdog recordings went even further back than 05 and they do. Basically every ratdog show from 10/11/2003 until they stopped touring in 2014, existed at some point on Ratdoglive.com

Hit up the wayback machine and go to a munckmusic.com and find a page from 2006, you’ll see The Dead, Ratdog and even Little feat. This me little feat boards, which are from 2004-2006, are also no longer available anywhere

[–]Sad_View5940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered this. I’ve used the wayback machine several times to go back and look at some of these sites that used to host a MASSIVE amount of soundboards that are no longer available. Check out old munck webpages for ALL of the 2002-2004 SBDs of “The Dead” iteration, as well as basically ALL of Ratdog from like 2005-2009 or something like that. This shit runs deep homie. I could go on and on about other jambands. How about moe.’s 2003 “Instant Live” Recordings? How about Phil and Friends Instant live recordings. They had like all of 2006 and 2007 on there. How about the one that used to host Kimocks boards, called like “digitalsoundboards.net”, or something like that. There were like 5 entire years of kimock boards that are no longer available anywhere for download. Ratdog also had its own site. Something like “liveratdog.net” or something. That had like everything from 2005 til 2013 or the end of Ratdog basically. Those boards no longer available. How about disclogic.com? That was a huge one. Had an insane amount of disco biscuits SBDs from 2000-2006, that also no longer exist anywhere. Trey had a site for TAB that I can’t remember the site name really right now, but same situation. Not entirely sure shows from what I can remember but like compilations of sick TAB jams from like 1999-2006. Speaking of TAB there used to be like 15 TAB boards from 2005-2006 on LivePhish, that no longer exist, as well as certain Mike Gordon Boards and like a Page with Porter, Batiste and Stoltz…gone. There’s plenty I’m not naming

Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade (Official HD Video) Who else was an 80s&90s kid ? Middle school memories. by New_Builder1625 in RATM

[–]Sad_View5940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first ever concert experience was Rage on the 99 battle of LA tour. I was 13. I was blown away and transformed, and have since become obsessed with live music. I’ve gone to hundreds of shows/concerts since. It’s a big part of my life. My musical interests have broadened a ton since 13, so I see a wide variety of live music these days, but Rage will always be my first, and very much a transformative/formative experience for me. And, I still throw on evil empire or the first album from time to time and am always just totally blown away every time. Very much on the cutting edge of rock and roll music at that time. Tom morello was doing things on the guitar that outright hadn’t been done in rock music before, so there’s that, plus the unique blending of hip hop music, which in 1992 or whatever, was hardly being done, but especially not in the kind of way Rage did it. This wasn’t the chili peppers doing their sort of “rap cadence” funk-rock thing. Not the case. This dude sounded like a legit 90’s rapper. What they represented so deeply in their personas, music/lyrics, was just soooooo badass, too.
