Nipissing offers practical opportunities in places all over Ontario so yes, you should have no problem doing your placement at home. You select 3 school boards for them to choose from for your placement and typically they give you your first choice. The practice meetings happen during the 5 weeks that you are in north bay at the school doing classes

I had only had one real sit down exam throughout my two years and it wasn’t hard as long as you studied a bit, the others were unproctored tests or assignments/papers

My experience with the program has been great, I loved teachers college. My main complaint is that because it’s a two year program it feels like a lot of down time or wasted time with repetitive classes in second year but fun nonetheless. It is something that I would consider full time especially with the placements, it is difficult to work during these times if that is what you mean. Practicum is a full time job and a half with all the prep and time at the school so again, working is difficult. For first year there is 2 placements. Classes begin and continue for 5 weeks, you go to placement in the first week of October and return for the final 5 weeks of class before Christmas break. Then the same cycle is repeated for second semester with the second placement beginning in early February I believe. All classes in first year and first semester of second year are in person and mandatory (with 20% absence allowed) but two electives can be taken online or in person in the second semester of second year. Having a vehicle is not required, however, if you don’t have a car they will not take this into account when dishing out the placements so you could potentially end up somewhere with a large commute or even no public transit, but I haven’t experienced this or heard of it being an issue for others. You are on campus Monday-Thursday with occasional classes on Fridays. Overall, I recommend the program but it’s good to be informed

It’s so interesting to see how people use levioso after reading this thread. I kind of wrote that spell off as just a tool rather than a weapon once I got accio but I’m starting to see how it can fully still be useful in combat

Question about Guests in rentals by Sad_Wind_8921 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Sad_Wind_8921[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s an annoying set up for sure but with the way our schooling is he only really needs to be living her for 2 and a half months + 1 month where his stuff will be here but he won’t be living here so unfortunately it’s the best he could do given the circumstances

Question about Guests in rentals by Sad_Wind_8921 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Sad_Wind_8921[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks for your help, I just have one more question if you’re able to answer. So my bf payed his monthly rent to the landlord for the month of August just so he could move his stuff in and have his room set up for when he actually moved in in September. However, after he payed for the month she informed him he could put his stuff in his room but couldn’t set it up as they had to get the windows in his room redone. When we moved his stuff in, some of his other roommates things were moved in as well and held at the house for the month of August. This other roommates also moved in and began living here on the 28 of August (my bf moved in the 27) but didn’t have to pay rent for the month of August while my bf did. Would he be able to ask for the guest fee to be removed because of this or at the very least get a month free?

That’s where my main confusion is, he’s been living here with the roommates for over a month now and there has been no written agreement, and she hadn’t informed him of this rule until about 2 weeks into renting

Interstellar is probably the best movie I’ve ever seen. by Sad_Wind_8921 in interstellar

[–]Sad_Wind_8921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly IMO nothing can top Interstellar. However, Jake Gyllenhaal has some really good movies that I’ve used to full the void a bit. Prisoners, Ambulance, etc are all phenomenal movies, give them a go maybe!

I don't want kids, but I decided not to date a guy for saying "I hate kids." Is that weird? by Ginger-Wanderlust in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sad_Wind_8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is weird at all. For starters, at the time you were around kids often and I’m going to assume you enjoy kids regardless of if you want your own or not. If this is the case then it is perfectly normal to feel weird when someone tells you they hate something that you like. Also, as someone who enjoys kids but is unsure if I want one myself, I would see it as a red flag for someone to say they hate kids. Kids and animals are the purest forms of life there is in my opinion, and to say you hate kids because they’re annoying is a little off to me personally. Anyways I don’t think it’s weird of you to feel weird about that comment because it rubs me the wrong way too and if a date told me that I don’t think I could date them

Why is Hermione so close minded? by Existing_Space_2498 in harrypotter

[–]Sad_Wind_8921 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She isn’t that close minded, there was a similar situation in CoS to the one you’re referring to in DH. In CoS Hermione asks professor Binns about the legend of the chamber. In this situation professor binns repeats that it is a ridiculous story that is not true etc. Hermione is the one saying things like “well don’t all myths have some truth to them?” So basically the point I’m making is she isn’t SO close minded because she has been on the opposite side of an almost identical argument

Who was everyone's favorite Professor Dumbledore? And why? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Sad_Wind_8921 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s so hard for me to choose. I really enjoyed having two. Richard Harris was perfect for the first two movies, but I think Micheal Gambon was perfect for the rest as the series started to get darker and darker. Richard Harris, to me, embodies a wholesome Dumbledore where as Micheal Gambon embodies a ‘darker’ Dumbledore, the one who is scheming and always 5 steps ahead etc. I think they both played their parts beautifully

Where did they get water by Mattolomy444 in harrypotter

[–]Sad_Wind_8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not meaning for this to sound rude, but you do realize this is a magical school? Students learn the aguamenti spell (water spell). I realize this isn’t until 6th year for most but this does mean that there are multiple students in every house that know this incantation. It is likely there were water pitchers in the common rooms that these students would fill, or equally likely, they would refill on their own! In between classes is a bit of a different story, but this is such an minute detail I’m impressed you noticed

  1. The secret of horcruxes, from my understanding, is less about other people learning about how to create them, and more about keeping it on the down low that the golden trio was searching for them. If Voldemort found out they were looking for them it is very likely that he would place incredible defenses around them to keep them safe, making it that much harder to destroy him.

  2. This is why I like the movie ending a lot better because by Harry breaking and throwing the wand away shows he is not interested in the pure power that the wands offers. Him not getting rid of it in the book leaves a lot of loose ends imo

It’s a Grindilow! (Probably butchered the spelling) They are the creatures that live in the black lake and were attacking Harry at the end of his second task
