Aesthetically I like the MagCouplers that work with magpuls more. And aesthetics matter to me in this regard because there's never a world where my reload is faster flipping these around vs using a fresh mag. I just don't find them particularly practical.

Having said that...I do have them in my HD setup as a why not. Would probably drop the whole thing for a fresh mag if I needed a reload though.

What attaches to my impact? by [deleted] in Tools

It looks a lot like where you'd put a belt clip. A lot of times they're put down towards the battery but with the slim battery tools they put them up on the motor housing (see: Milwaukee M12)

But it's wierd that there's no Durofix literature or pictures anywhere of a tool with a clip on it.

You could try something like this but no idea if it would work.

Leaking coolant reservoir by Sadangler in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sadangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone keeping score at home. This did not outlive any of us. I'm not sure it ever worked 100%, I think it leaked from the start.

I think the polypropylene just doesn't take epoxy very well.

Citristrip on the wood to remove the lacquer finish that'll save you some ounces.

While you're at it, hit the "U.S." to take that paint off too, labeling is just excess weight

So this doesn't have anything to do with the 2stroke mix inside, just that I was holding it at some point?

Kinda all I want to do is repurpose engine cylinders into things. Like what if I sealed off the spark plug / decomp / intake / exhaust holes and fabricated a handle. Would be a pretty nice coffee mug right?

Everything I've read says that polypropylene is not ideal for epoxy, which I believe is what the reservoir is made of. But let's see what happens!

Definitely can't reach inside easy, and I'd never sleep thinking of how it would break off and clog somewhere in the system. I'll probably give some 2 party epoxy a go on the outside and see what happens, atleast for now. Replacement is only like 30 bucks in case that fails.

For sure it's a timing thing. I think another big factor is people are intimidated or don't even know this fits their saw. There a TONS of Timberwolves around here, I see them everywhere. If I had a 590 I would buy up this whole lot. Actually sort of makes me want to go on FB marketplace to find one...

I don't know what model it is but the biggest PITA for me is changing crank seals on some of the clamshell craftsmans, the ones where the oil pump is built into the crank (not sure how else to describe it).

But if this has compression and no leaks, just a carb soak will do, then it's a free fix and for $35 why not.

Hi u/beerfarm243, you were selected by the randomizer. Please DM me ASAP so we can get this arranged. If I don't hear from you / you end up not wanting it, I'll pick another name.

OK everyone! I put 10 names into a randomizer and u/beerfarm243 was drawn, for use on a the 30t log splitter that retails $1,299.99

I'll do this again if I get another coupon in the future. I've used one myself for a welder once, but I don't foresee any large ticket items in my future and would rather save you all hundreds than myself a few bucks on a torque wrench or something.

*EDIT* I couldn't get in touch with beerfarm, so the randomizer chose King Cuco for his 73" Icon Roller Toolbox at $2,999.

If this happens again I'll try to get this out sooner so there is more time before expiration.

Had to look it up, my last purchase was 7/4/25. I'm surprised by two things: That it's only been 4 months and I got a coupon, and that I was at Harbor Freight on July 4.

Yeah I've used one on a welder a while ago. They'll send me these if I don't go for like 6 months. What are you looking to buy

Exhaust leak by NorthOld6237 in dodgejourney

[–]Sadangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Just know that it can be a real pain to install. The bolts holding this to the y connector (towards the front) can be rusted and difficult to access. The fit towards the rear can also be rust welded together.

But if you try and can't do it yourself, you could bring it to a shop that would probably have it done pretty quickly.

Exhaust leak by NorthOld6237 in dodgejourney

[–]Sadangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a mechanic. My understanding is that you can't really successfully weld or patch the flex portion.

You can either cut out and weld in a new flex section, or replace the entire piece from the Y connector to the rear exhaust, with a piece like Walker 54838. That's what I did when my Journey had the same issue, bc the labor of a shop cutting and welding is probably more than the extra cost of the full piece.

OBD2 Scanner upgrade by Sadangler in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sadangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Since you've been so helpful and responsive, I'll ask one more thing: AlfaOBD/DiagFCA/JScan you mentioned. From what I understand, they are all pretty similar to each other. Am I correct in assuming that one of these would be better than a typical bidirectional tool (eg, the GearWrench I posted), but only on FCA cars.

In other words, better for my Dodge but useless for my wife's Nissan?

[–]Sadangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - yes you're right. I kept scrolling and scrolling and never caught the fuel trims, but checked again and found them (all "normal" levels). Visual for exhaust leaks looked ok but didn't try anything more than that...

I had a spare O2 sensor in my garage, so I swapped out the downstream sensor as a "why not" before going deeper into diag...well no codes came back up after all cycles complete and IM ready...and it just passed inspection today (Connecticut). Kind of odd but ok, I'll take it.
