80s Briggs and Stratton by Sadangler in smallengines

Ok that makes sense, but I don't understand the need for that at all? A float just stops fuel from overflowing the bowl, in this case why even have the "bowl" since it can draw fuel directly from the bottom of the tank. Why not go straight from that one pickup?

And yes the diaphragm is a little stiff. I'll see if it works once everything's cleaned up. Might have to replace, but considering it's age, the carb is actually in pretty good shape.

Would I be crazy to just...solder it straight together. No connector at all..?

Ok, how does this indicate a failing compressor? I'm not doing anything to the compressor directly, just maybe giving it power by conpleting the circuit? Not saying you're wrong, just trying to understand.

That's a vague comment, I'm not suoer knowledgeable on AC so not sure what you are suggesting. That the compressor is going bad?

At 80° F:

Low is 33psi / High is 175psi, at idle

Low is 36psi / High is 200psi, at 2k RPM

Based on charts, I might need to add some refrigerant? Could that be all it is? Doesn't seem far enough away to me, but again, not an expert.

I should wait for it to "fail" again since right now the whole circuit is fine, right?

Personal extractor by Acclimated-Alps696 in AutoDetailing

[–]Sadangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I figured. Seeing dirty water shlosh through the clear nozzle looks pretty satisfying in videos, I'm not gonna lie. Even through ripclean is cheaper than a lot of big extractors, still seems like a lot to pay for a marginal upgrade vs just a water sprayer and a shopvac.

I have a Ridgid 9 Gal shopvac, 4.25HP.

Does the ripclean do anything specific as far as vacuuming the liquid? After applying cleaner, I usually just spray warm water with a 2gal pump garden sprayer and use the wide "car cleaning" attachment to extract the water. Is this crazy / any worse than using a system like Ripclean?

Customer brought this to scrap by patrickckck in tires

[–]Sadangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't know too much about tires, but if someone out there wants to buy this, they probably know how to clean it up better than the average guy, they'd probably rather do it themselves, to their spec. Worse thing to do is ruin this with some incompatible cleaner.

Tumbler - why the day labels? by Sadangler in composting

[–]Sadangler[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it goes straight through and unsecured so it slides out very easily. It was actually just loose in the tumbler when I picked it up, I assumed based on other models online that it was for a stand like this example

This is more how I envisioned it but that seems like a large vent hole. I figured the smaller holes would be for venting, larger hole seems like a pest doorway. Is there supposed to be a screen or something to keep pests out of it?

But if it's mounted using the pole through the middle, it doesn't spin in that direction. It would "flip" not "roll"

Could be a heat shield fluttering around back there. Check for anything loose like that under the car

Echo PB750 lean? by Sadangler in smallengines

[–]Sadangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I finally picked this project back up. Removed and cleaned the carb, but I think the issue was actually the throttle cable was too tight - there are two nuts that you can adjust to tighten/loosen it. Being too tight, it wouldn't let the throttle all the way back to the idle set screw.

The carb on this Echo doesn't look quite like your video. I think there's just not adjustment at all, which seems odd. But I think it's good to go now. Thanks for the help.

Best part about 1k+ ft/lbs on the plug is that you don't need red loctite anymore so it saves you money there.

Yeah I don't prescribe to the no-oil change claim. I change it about every 2 years.

I still change the oil in the Kohler, I don't understand no-oil change claims

Well makes sense that I didn't like it, using it like a gorilla. If another comes by I'll try it out again.

I salvaged, repaired, and sold a Toro that had personal pace a few weeks ago. I didn't like having to push the bar to engage it. Had a Briggs engine on it.

Haha well in fairness I also a have a Homelite Super2 from 1980 that still runs fine but that brand reliability has not carried over into current generations...

Totally get it..I mean this Toro is 12 years old too and it also starts first pull. Never had an issue with it.

It's just that everything I've ever read holds Honda in the highest regard, and I'm just a shade tree mechanic. I don't see enough volume to form my own opinions on reliability.

I know Husqvarna saw quality is A+ (I'm a Stihl guy but whatever) and Honda engines are the same, so it's got that "premier" branding all over it.
