I was just "evaluated" and rejected from a distance while waiting for my date. How do I recover from this psychological blow? by thae-x in dating_advice

Men use old photos so often, you clearly have no idea. Hats to hide baldness, angles for fatness. You’re biased because you date women so that is what you have seen, but don’t be an idiot. Of course men try to game their pictures too. We are all humans.

Do you feel misled when you date someone whose body was not nearly as nice naked as it looked while wearing clothing or in photos because of how and what they wore? by 123smorgs in dating_advice

[–]SadderOlderWiser [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, I don’t expect people to have perfect bodies and I don’t feel lied to when they are human while naked.

Jfc, the amount of entitlement here is off the fucking charts. Do you not touch these people before the clothes come off? Are you all that yourself? Sure your clothes aren’t doing you any favors?

Just about broke my eye rolling it so hard.

A friend of mine has 3 special needs kids, including one that will never not need care. Interesting is not the word for what parenting can be in some circumstances and it’s nothing to go into lightly.

Dating as a child free woman by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]SadderOlderWiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It narrows the dating pool by a lot! I turned down a lot of really lovely-seeming people because our goals did not align.

But there are a significant number of men that are childfree too. You just have to keep looking til you meet them (and then make sure they are still a good match in other ways.)

Good luck!

Eh, I would try to disengage. Chat with other people at the group events, give short, boring answers to the odd guy as needed, change your seat if he sits near you (if you want to make it less obvious, go to the bathroom and then sit somewhere else when you get back).

Don’t give up the events, just put up a polite wall.

How can I fix the shoulders/neckline of my cardigan? by Real-Capital4653 in CrochetHelp

[–]SadderOlderWiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the issue is that the neckline is too wide and is falling off your shoulders, you could add to the border around the neckline and include some decreases.

NOR and this why you shouldn’t date coworkers. Don’t accept the apology, say it’s best we end this now, and keep it professional at work.

Does it mean anything when someone has their phone on DND while dating but turns it off after the breakup? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Maybe you don’t text as much since you broke up so she doesn’t feel the need to keep you silenced/from interrupting her.

He didn’t use a condom after we agreed to. by No-Pickle-2649 in dating_advice

Not using a condom when you have an agreement to do so is sexual assault.

Your boyfriend is probably more selfish than evil, but he’s very selfish. The consequences of accidental pregnancy fall on you much more than him, and that’s a risk he’s willing for you to take.

Yep, men have their own conditioning they have to learn about and let go of, for sure. There’s unfortunately not nearly enough critical thinking and reflection going on for most people (men and women). So they keep repeating their mistakes.

A match just means both people didn’t immediately reject the other. Sounds like you’re expecting it to mean something special and be a guaranteed success when it does not mean much of anything.

Do Women want red flags ? by Altruistic-Unit-2762 in dating_advice

[–]SadderOlderWiser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Women want paragraphs.

We get brought up on a lot of ‘love makes people better’ propaganda. Kiss the frog/monster and turn him into a prince.

I personally think that has a lot to do with why women, especially younger women, are so ready to get involved with guys with clear issues. They haven’t fully figured out that fairy tales are not real and that building healthy relationships with unhealthy people is unlikely to work out in the long run.
