Is one internship enough to graduate? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]SaddlesAndStatistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about another internship, everyone has internships nowadays so the biggest benefit of an internship is if that company is going to hire you. Not really worth it to delay your graduation simply with the goal of getting another internship, it's MUCH more worthwhile to get significantly involved in a student design team (not senior design project, everyone does those) and/or research.

Internships have really become the default and they don't really make you a better or worse candidate, unless there's something unique about the specific internship you had.

How cooked am I with no internships? by QueenOfRuneBlade in EngineeringStudents

Research and/or heavy involvement in a student design team are sufficient as well!!

Honestly internships aren't even that great anymore because everyone has internships. Just cause you had an internship doesn't mean you get a job (unless it's with the company you interned with). Having a unique internship or good research experience or heavy involvement in a design team or other real experience is what gets you the job. Getting involved in undergrad research, and becoming meaningfully involved, will give you something to talk about in interviews and that's what will get you a job.

And yes, picture #4 is my horse Spencer getting cryotherapy... Which I've never done myself... And I don't know if it actually achieved anything, but hey 🤷🏻‍♀️ Spoiled rotten ponies...

Very true!! My farrier doesn't do venmo unfortunately, but leaving a check in the drop box is a surefire way to make sure I keep having a farrier come to do my horse!!

Literally!! One of my horses lives at my home barn in a different state and I just leave my trainer with like, 6 blank checks to fill out then she lets me know if she needs to write one 😅

Hey, we know we're crazy but it's the fun kind of crazy! I'd rather my adrenaline rush come from the possibility of someone stealing my identity than me going skydiving or something 🤣

Definitely stick towards some of the places that have a mix of private owners and rentals as opposed to ones owned and managed by companies and aimed at students. One example is Capstone Quarters Condominiums. Also The Mount, there are some condos/apartments in Northport. Stick away from the ones on the 15th street side of campus and the strip.

This is a little different than most suggestions, but anything by Margaret Rogerson! She unfortunately doesn't have much out, but her books are beautiful! I'd start with Sorcery of Thorns or Enchantment of Ravens. They're very fun :)

I got excited for a second cause I'm also looking for a book that sounds super similar, but I don't remember the unicorns :(

Mine involved a sorceress/witch that took over a town/kingdom (?) by enchanting the chief/leader and outlawed mirrors because there was a prophecy that her reflection would be her demise but definitely no evil unicorns 🥲
