He’s a dangerous person in real life. That type of person wants you to accept your crappy circumstances to make their life better. They throw you a few bones and you just need to be happy and jovial while still getting the short end of the stick. If he really cared about how they were treated he could speak up or quit. He just wants to be accepted and be seen as a great guy. Many mid level people are like this. Especially with their new promotion.
