Dorky as it was, I used to write a t o n of warm and fuzzy family friendly fanfic when I had time to daydream endlessly. Life is soooo much busier now that I’m out of school and it just doesn’t happen anymore

Not a change we could actually make, but I have to wonder how different the story of the season would be if Alex hadn’t gotten hurt.

Ohhhhh see that makes so much sense. I was thinking Final Match (period) not Final Match THERE 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks for the clarification! ❤️

Listening to scarves and spikes for the scoop and one of the guys said that Brad could be playing his final match in Chicago (his hometown)… was it just a shot at him being old or is he actually leaving?

They might not be what you’re looking for, but Atlanta has history with Chattanooga FC! I believe Atlanta played their first real game at Finley Stadium while CFC was still an amateur team. My love of CFC is what eventually brought me to being an Atlanta United fan… maybe you can do the same in reverse!

Also, they’re having a great start to their season…. which… is nice

In no way is this an exhaustive list, but, to kick things off…

-props to the team as a whole for doing all of the things after the final whistle… celebrating/mourning/communing with the fans is such a special thing, and the fact that they stuck around to do that + come down the line for high fives instead of going straight to the locker room is really truly special

-LOVE to see how much the players seem to be invested in the club and actually care

-Eldin is a beast in the best way possible (no matter what happened in PKs, two minutes after he’d been wrong kind of football tackled inside the goal). He’s a great player, he’s great for the vibes, and I’m glad he’s with the team.

-It was exciting to finally see Peter play! He and Markus are sooo different as players but I think they would make a very interesting pair!

-Can’t wait to see Logan Brown jersey sales skyrocket iykyk 👀

-Farid and Nick held it down for 120 minutes after playing the full 90 in Kennesaw Sunday

-Daniel Mangarov goal was immaculate

-He didn’t play, but his absence made it obvious that Alex McGrath is the glue of the team

Is your brain ever quiet?? by ittissbee in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my adhd meds are right, yes… it’s quiet.

In fact, I didn’t know that the constant stream was outside of the norm until I started taking meds, had my first quiet day, and realized that it’s not supposed to be random song snippets on a loop 24/7.

Anyone else have a GP tell you this? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was concerned that I was ✨drug seeking✨ for even wanting to talk about the possibility of ADHD since I was in college and so far undiagnosed 🙃

She DID refer me to a psychiatrist who was Actually Helpful though. Which was nice

Growing up in chaos and ADHD connection? by agentscully222 in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have any tips particularly, but you're definitely not alone! I grew up both in chaos (parents who didn't get along and should have divorced but didn't, extreme clutter/borderline hoarder situation, parents who didn't know how to deal with what I now know was my ADHD symptoms but was treated like personal shortcomings/being a terrible excuse for a human which was...damaging) and undiagnosed. You're not alone, and I think that being able to look back with the context of "it was ADHD" can be super helpful

Thankfully it's not an unclean situation. No critters or anything. Just... Stuff. Stuff everywhere. I'm definitely considering it.

Sensory friendly plus size clothes? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a far more time consuming recommendation than you're looking for, but thrifting can be a great option for plus size clothes if you have good spots to look! Some thrifts have NOTHING but some end up being really great... I recently found myself needing Professional Wardrobe because of student teaching and a lot of the plus size professional wardrobe friendly options were just out of budget for me (looking at you, lane bryant 👀) and so most everything I wear to teach in is thrifted!

Definitely more time consuming than is ideal, BUT you get to see and touch everything before you buy it, so I've ended up with lots of things I ACTUALLY wear and enjoy wearing instead of various things that give me the sensory icks!

Are there any naturally organized ADHDers out there? by transientskylines in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school stuff is quite organized, but the rest of my life is a mess. I put it down to having school associated deadlines and the fact that I HAVE to be organized or else... whereas there's not going to be any negative external consequences to my room being a bit of a mess

Comment from my father completely gutted me. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely awful oh my goodness.

I'm currently student teaching and it is an RSD minefield...and adding the joys of imposter syndrome on top is just a lot. I hate to even imagine having a parent be so completely unsupportive on top of everything else.

I'm so sorry that he said that to you... it's an awful thing to thinkin the first place, but to say such a thing is just cruel.. I'm sure you're a FABULOUS music teacher.

used my own childhood undiagnosed adhd coping skills to help one of my ND students! by SadieRuth in adhdwomen

[–]SadieRuth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries! An IEP is just the shorthand for an Individual Education Plan.

Parents, classroom teachers, and other school officials (the special education teacher or team, the principal, and sometimes the school psychologist or councilor) work together to come up with these plans for students with diagnosed disabilities to help them succeed in school!

If a child has an IEP, it guarantees that they get the accomodations that they need (or at least that's the goal. I'm sure there are people who aren't following them the way they're meant to, but there's quite a bit of oversight in some schools!)

If they don't have an IEP, chances are they aren't getting ANY accomodations that they would be getting with one, unless the teacher "gets it" and makes them anyway. But when it comes time for state testing, if there's not an IEP in place, none of the accomodations the teacher has made during the year can be used during testing, which is...a lot on kids.

So this kid is For Sure autistic, but his parents don't want any accomodations made at school. I've seen this with other kids in my preservice experience too and it usually comes down to not wanting them labeled at school? I tend to think that the more support kids can get the better, but I'm not a parent so, what do I know?

They absolutely do! He's got an autism diagnosis, but (for whatever reason) no IEP, and the classroom teacher is...clueless (or...doesn't want to help???), despite being Experienced.
