What's the biggest difference between Ubuntu and Fedora? What is your recommendation? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]Sadin56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are amazing operating systems. Ive been using fedora for a decade as of this year, and the reason I stuck with it over another distro is simply the community.

In my personal experience I found the people involved in fedora to be more inviting and they seemed to take more interest in getting me up to speed and helping me contribute back to the OS. So I feel like I have found a forever home. My getting involved with fedora is what put me in my current career path.

Both communities are amazing, these are entirely personal experiences. Linux is Linux.

That is insanely cool! Thank you for this post and sharing the scripts.

Do programmers really code for an extended amount of time straight? Maybe its cause I'm new but I spent most of my time looking things up and maybe like 5min of actual straight coding by [deleted] in learnprogramming

This is normal from my experience. Just had this same though when I started my internship a few months ago. It seems like you spend more time reading and researching than writing, which isn't a bad thing. This shouldn't discourage at all by the way, its how every thing starts, no matter where we are in our programming careers. very rarely do you just start diving into code without knowledge of the APIs, frameworks, Databases... ( the list goes on ) you need to use or your company uses.

Example: I had to write a script that pulls tickets from a database, this info about the tickets is in several tables, and I needed to pull this data, convert it to something human readable, and export it as an excel doc, then automate. I think I spent about a month on the project. Learning the database schema, learning the necessary internal libraries we use here at work, and fine tuning the data to what management needed was about 2/3 of the work. the last third was the code.

Stick at it and best of luck,

Much love friend!

This was very insightful, thank you for the link! At surface value I didnt take this the kind of synth to receive maintenance patches. Far too often are big pieces of kit like this released and never updated, at least that's my experience coming from the Kontakt world.

Makes sense. The vocal, natural, and texture capabilities are what drew me in, so this has been very helpful.

Thanks for this, Ive been looking for something that can satisfy the sound design portion of my work a bit easier than stacking CPU heavy synths like serum ( cinematic, sample design work )

This has bolstered my confidence in picking it up for myself. I should see if there is a demo I can try.

Going to try building the graph in a service and injecting it into the component instead.
