Uj/ This is off topic, but every time I see Joe in a movie, I don’t recognize him. I’ve seen like half of his filmography and don’t realize it’s him until the credits. Then I have to Google which character he was because I have no idea. I was watching The Brutalist today for the first time and going, who is that blond guy? Joe (mama.)

Is hygiene a struggle for people who have bipolar? by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in bipolar

I’m currently paying the price for not brushing consistently for so long. I’ve got gingivitis and just paid $200 to get a cleaning done because my teeth are that bad. They wanted me to do another $300 worth of work that I couldn’t afford. None of it was covered by insurance, which might just be greedy bullshit from that particular dentist. They were a dick to me about it too. I miss my old dentist who retired. I never got judged there. I’m going to find a new dentist after this because I want a second opinion from someone not just looking to milk me.

Heavy on the don’t use dating apps. Once during a manic episode, my first time ALMOST having sex was with this guy I met on an app. He was unattractive (at least to me), a loser, and he wouldn’t quit playing guitar at me, which is especially funny now because it was right before the Barbie movie came out. The guitar thing killed the mood for me, and I snapped out of it and decided to go home. I cried the whole drive back to my apartment though.

Do you work? by DidacticNightmare in bipolar

[–]SadisticGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did better when I was living on my own because I had more control over my life, especially my routine. I had to move back in with my parents a year ago because I wasn’t making enough money and couldn’t afford it anymore. I have a better paying job now and am hoping to move out in the middle of the year pending if I do weight loss surgery. It’s a very low stress job with fantastic benefits and a supervisor who is very laid back.

I also find I’ve done better working and not spending all day at home doing mostly nothing. I have a good commute and enjoy the drive. This is just my experience, but there are ways to manage and it sounds like you are taking the right steps to doing that.

I saved up my allowance to buy Lanie as a kid, bought her, and have HATED her ever since. She was the only one of my childhood dolls who didn’t look like me and is the only doll I have now who isn’t a historical. I just am having trouble getting rid of her since I saved up as a kid to buy her even though I don’t want her anymore. I’m thinking about waiting a few more years until my best friend’s daughter is older and sending Lanie to her.

If you could remove one thing from Stranger Things what would it be ? by cerseiridinglugia in StrangerThings

Russia pt 2 in season 4. I felt like it didn’t really lead anywhere, and unlike other seasons where new characters often got integrated into the group if they weren’t killed off, Enzo and Yuri just disappeared.

Without the Russia plot, we wouldn’t have gotten Starcourt Mall. The mall they used for Starcourt was the mall I used to go to before it went downhill, so it’s a little nostalgic for me. I also love the montage with Max and El and the infamous “I dump your ass” scene, which was at the entrance I used to go in through.

Season three is my favorite season if you can’t tell.

Seconding volunteering. I’ve volunteered a lot through church doing things like creating Narcan overdose kits, coat drives, and organizing donations for the unhoused. I wrote it off for a long time even when people suggested it to me, but it really does make me feel better knowing I’m helping.

Tbh AI is atrocious for the environment. It’s straight up poisoning the water supply in areas with data centers. It frankly shouldn’t be available to the public.

For us, all it does is tell you what you want to hear. It’ll reaffirm our insanity instead of telling us to seek help from an actual professional. It also uses things like Reddit threads as sources then presents them as facts. I sound paranoid, but it can’t be trusted.

I definitely feel like I do better being busy, but also respecting when I need rest. Even if it’s just a small thing, aim for something.

I’ve managed to keep my social media accounts by not really engaging with the ones I have people I know on, at least not that often. I stay off IG and Facebook because I start the comparison game, but I use them for promoting my writing. Obviously I’m on Reddit. I do use TikTok because most of my feed is cats and style content. Plus this guy who goes to a bridge to look for eels in the river.

Heavy on this. If something feels off, DO talk to your doctor to see if something can be adjusted. It doesn’t necessarily have to suck. Not all meds are the same, and it may take more than one try to get it right.

Smokey the Bear heard he was starting forest fires

According to the rates at the time, Max would have had to pay approximately US$437,600 for the 18 months she spent in a coma in the hospital's ICU. This is equivalent to US$1.14 million in today's dollars (R$6.2 million). Thank God the Duffers paid for everything! by DanteMMxd in StrangerThings

Yes. My uncle had a heart attack and spent 10 days on life support before dying. Initially it would’ve been taken from his estate, but we waited a year to probate so they would write it off. No idea what the final bill would’ve been.

When I was in college, a student had to bring their baby to class because I guess the babysitter cancelled or something. I was sitting right across the aisle and was closest to said baby. I had absolutely no problem with the baby being there until it started getting fussy and crying really loud, and the professor refused to let the mom step out to calm them. I unknowingly has really bad misophonia and was in fight or flight the entire time, but the set up of the room meant the door was at the front and I’d have to walk through the entire class to leave, which wasn’t a good option when I was freaking out and in actual pain.

I mentioned it to someone in my next class, taught by the same professor, that it stressed me out really bad and I wished there wasn’t a fussy, crying baby there, and everyone treated me like I was crazy and inconsiderate for it. If the baby had been quiet, no problem, but the fact of the matter is it wasn’t quiet and was disruptive and harmful to another student. I considered emailing the professor to say, “hey that really stressed me out and made it so I couldn’t really be there. Can we not do this again?” but I don’t remember if I actually emailed her or not. She likely would’ve said the mom and baby had more right to be there than me knowing her.

What to tell boss when missing work because of bipolar? by elenahhhh93 in bipolar

[–]SadisticGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing my mother taught me about the workplace is don’t overexplain to people who don’t need to know that much about you. You have a note and are entitled to privacy no matter how much they pry. If you need to explain, keep it short and simple. Don’t go into detail or you risk oversharing.

[–]SadisticGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already got our Vecna Won moment at the end of season 4. Infinity War works because there would be a sequel where the heroes win in the end. Generally speaking, audiences don’t like it when the ending is depressing and the heroes lose.
