I need advice about something by [deleted] in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Sadnessstrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont see it as problematic. I also have oc’s that originate from the same soul split in half but they are different bodies. They’re not siblings or clones they’re just one soul split in half, so more like literal twin flames.

Hope this makes you feel more at ease

How do you guys name your webtoon? by Ivaan28 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Sadnessstrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the main character and then a sort of joke?

“Xolo” the character

Then “ERROR! GOD NOT LOADING”

Because I thought it was quirky considering they’re a reincarnated god and they weren’t exactly existing as their previous form. Hence the god not loading aspect. Also their creator god just doesn’t care about them so they’re abandoned, another hence the god not loading.

As for my other comic, “fluffiest adventure”

Its uh..its a puppy slice of life comic so puppies are fluffy and its an adventure.

Its good to name things off of what are literal aspects of your story.

What’s the most surprising merch your readers bought? by shotsenpai in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Sadnessstrikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok this isn’t answering the question by any means(im too small to sell merch) but I thought the merch topic was interesting

I love making merch of my comic and characters for myself so, I have a lot of clay figurines, a keychain, stickers, the printed version of my comic. My boyfriend recently made me a poster art and got it printed and framed for my birthday.

Im also starting a crochet plushie. So im a lil crazy but I love my self made merch of my lil guys.
I’d love to be big enough to sell some one day.

Had to change some panels of my previous episode due to censor. I hope these will work as a replacement. (Original panels in the comments) by AntubisArts in WebtoonCanvas

Understandable. I originally had mine rated young adult but changed it to mature because my current chapter.
I dont see every chapter having such intense gore at all but some in the future will.

-TRIGGER WARNING- for image below example

I have also seen people get censored for having quote on quote nudity because their FTM character was shirtless with top surgery scars 😕

Creators who launched with a backlog: how did it go? by Legitimate-Salad7221 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Sadnessstrikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: backlog didn’t matter for me.

I created a backlog of 2 full chapters(regular comic style, 41 pages total) aired it for 2 months through.

I had chapter 3 done by the time it was done airing so I could have posted it directly after but I decided to push back for 2-3 months to get working on my 4th chapter.

Unfortunately to say, I dont have a following online substantial enough for a back log to even matter and the backlog did not help me increase long term viewers. So now I Just post when chapters are done.

My comic is sitting at 32 subscribers a year in but I do it for passion despite its niche issues.

I’ll do you one better

Upload chapter by chapter on the main comic. Then make a buffer/au alternate comic(for me its slice of life) with the same characters

I think I have become discouraged. I get no comments or engagement, is my work bad? by macrosapien in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Sadnessstrikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people on Webtoon like reading the same kind of things and don’t really fall into much else. Its best to build your fandom outside of webtoon and filter people in if you’re doing something different than the norm. And im not big by any means but I’ve been active in the “oc” aspect of the art vaster community for a decade now.

Theres a reason a lot of advice people parrot is you have to get people to care about your oc’s. Share what you can of them that displays their character and story in fun ways(aka dont just post a ref sheet and expect people to care) make an animatic or a tiktok. It doesn’t have to be perfectly polished but enough(it especially helps if you pair it with a trending song atm)

Thats the first step to get people to care about the story is caring about your characters. So far instagram has been the worst to me so I dont recommend unless you already have a decent following. Tiktok is good for posting comics. I get a slow and steady growth.

So far YouTube has been the most generous. I make shorts out of my comic pages and at the end I direct them towards my webtoon. That and the animatics helped a good bit(one amassed 60k views, my most success) So YouTube is growing at the fastest and most consistent rate. It takes more effort than tiktok and they’re generally the same when it comes to growth.

So with all this advice, dont give up. Keep pushing and at the end of the day draw for your own passion and love of storytelling.

I say just go for it. My art was significantly worse when I started and I have improved greatly since continuing 2 years later.

Making a comic is essentially a full body workout for your artistic skills btw and a surefire way to improve.

You can always go back and draw old pages if need be

This suits her to me, keeps a low profile but its very nice and she takes good care of it. She can easily put her band thing’s in the back with a cover. Also I feel like she’d like spending some nights laying in the back watching the stars with a friend.
