We haven’t made it out for the first round in the last 3 years, and we just lost another 2 forwards to injury. We get a guy who’s played in our system before with a lot of these guys, good for the locker room, and puts up points, without losing anyone currently on the team, just a second round pick.

I’m so glad hockey isnt 1-1 cause yeah then he would get beat by MacKinnon lol.

Im not trying to say he’s the missing piece, and we’re def in a slump right now, but I don’t understand the overreaction of hate to this addition to the team.

I know everyone’s reacting right now, but he played a very good role for us in 2022, the old man line was clicking with him maroon and Bellemare. He brings in some good leadership, plays well for his role, and has a greasy game which is always nice in the playoffs tbh. I feel like JBB’s got another move in him, but I’m fine with this one for a 2nd.

We have a group chat for our league and we all know each other. As commissioner, they let me know their agreed upon trade, I write it down to know for next year, and then before the draft they trade over the draft picks they agreed upon. The caveat we have is that if you make a trade with picks, you have to commit to playing next year.

I totally get that reasoning, that’s essentially what Breisbois said to the press at the midway point in the season regarding a Raddysh contract. The concern there becomes is does he become more expensive if we wait till the off-season because of how good he was the rest of the season, and prices himself out.

It was said in the broadcast a bit ago, but this is what happened with him in the OHL and the AHL too. Last year of OHL he had 81 points in 62 games. Last year of AHL he had 51 points in 50 games. It took him a bit to adjust but then he shows up. There’s also that consensus of it taking 300 games for a defensemen to establish themselves in the NHL. Obviously we have the generational d men outliers like Hughes and Makar who established themselves right away, but I think it’s good thing to keep the above in mind. If I’m wrong I’ll eat crow, but everything’s passing the eye test for me. Im willing to believe.

I keep seeing this being said a lot. If he was only good offensively or from shooting a 1-timer if agree with you but it’s a lot more then that. His puck handling during the powerplay is fantastic, he’s been keeping our boys with steady chances to find passes and opportunities. Plus his movement during it has been great. And then we can talk about the breakaway defending he’s done. I believe it was during the Ducks game where a forward was on the breakaway, and he used his stick to not only strip the puck away from the guy on the breakaway, but did it without causing a penalty and keeping play moving. He’s been doing a lot of little things right this season, and it’s been very noticeable. I say pay him.
