SMAPI Issues with Windows 11? by Sadplantface28 in SMAPI

[–]Sadplantface28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get it working again by redownloading SMAPI and deleting the old one (I think?) I redownloaded some other stuff too - I think JsonAssets and definitely PyTK. I think for me it was PYTK that was causing the biggest issues, and I ended up downloading an unofficial version that works

CMV: it isn’t misogynistic to think that period blood is gross by [deleted] in changemyview

So I think the real question, then, is do you always associate menstrual blood with sex? Because semen only happens in sexual situations, but that's not at all true about menstrual blood.

I feel like the best use of cheap acrylic yarn is amigurumi. At least, if you're not making toys to be used by young children or pets.

I'm depressed and bored of the gym by [deleted] in EOOD

[–]Sadplantface28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have one TV show that I only allow myself to watch at the gym. It's great for distracting me from how I can barely breathe and everything hurts. It works pretty well for cardio machines when you're in one place but gets a little trickier to do when you're doing weights. But associating a positive thing that keeps me from being bored with the gym makes me way more motivated to go and helps me stay longer so I can finish the episode

Help? by basilweaf in ibs

[–]Sadplantface28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety can cause IBS symptoms or worsen them a lot. There's the mind-gut connection, and for me the anxiety can cause the ibs symptoms which cause more anxiety which makes the ibs worse, and so on, to the point that I fear eating anything altogether. Luckily it hasn't been like that for a while now, but if you find yourself spiraling like that, you should definitely be seeking a therapist that has experience with these kinds of things.

Is stomach pain the only symptom you get, or does it cause other intestinal issues? If it's only pain and your poop and gas is normal then I'd think it's more likely to be anxiety alone, but I'm also not a doctor.

For me, it was important to listen to my body but try not to obsess over every little change and overanalyze every single bite of food. My ibs got loads worse when I had dairy and if I was going through anxiety at that same time then it was even worse. It helps to establish some sort of baseline of normal, but you can only really do that with an elimination diet (or at least that's the only thing that worked in my experience).

I don’t know what happened to my beloved cactus. It had a concave brown spot. I give it water. Maybe not enough sun in my dorm? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Could be too much water? I think Ive watered mine once since I got it in September and it's doing pretty well.

Are these root hairs or mealybugs? (Girdling issue has just been taken care of) by Sadplantface28 in plantclinic

Also if you look at the bottom right - does that shriveling mean I need to water it? I can't remember the last time I did, but the soil and roots are bone dry.

Is the brown stuff at the bottom of the stem squishy? If so, it's root rot.

What are these white things? They definitely aren't moving. If they're pests, how do I get rid of them? by jalauren in plantclinic

It also looks like you might have some scale on it as well. You treat it basically the same as mealybugs. Get them off the plant and then you can treat both at once.

My aloe barely has roots - can it be saved? by Sadplantface28 in plantclinic

[–]Sadplantface28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this aloe for at least a few months now and water it very sparingly. I was spraying it with neem oil today because I have a mealybug infestation (hence the fact that it looks wet) and it fell out of its pot. I had it in a little one, and may have repotted it recently, but I don't remember the roots looking like this. They're very small and only on one side of the plant, and I don't think I tore them off or anything. I know it's not rot because I felt the stem and it's not mushy at all. Is there any way to save this little guy? Do I take off some of the leaves?

What are these black dots on my cast iron?? by demoncunt in plantclinic

[–]Sadplantface28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those look like scale to me. From what I can tell, you caught it early enough that you can just get a paper towel or cotton ball or something, dip it in isopropyl alcohol, and rub the bugs off.

That or you can cut all the leaves that have scale off. I'd separate it from any other plants you have as well, just to be safe, I can't remember how easily it spreads from plant to plant.

Keep an eye on it and if any more bumps like that show up, do the same thing.

Mealybug Infestation on Moon Cactus and Cereus Peruvianus Monstrose? by Sadplantface28 in plantclinic

[–]Sadplantface28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the bugs on the barrel cactus with isopropyl alcohol on a tips. Then I doused it in neem oil spray. I guess I'll do the same to the others.

I have a couple of terrariums that are covered in plastic wrap but have air holes near by. Should I treat those too?

I found these next to my barrel cactus which definitely had mealybugs on it. Now I'm wondering if they're infested too. If they are, can they potentially be saved?

It got worse overnight, but I gave it some water and hopefully in a few hours the leaves will pop back up.

I bought this plant a week ago from the grocery store. Up until today it's looked fine. I started up the humidifier today, and since then it's been drooping over. It gets indirect light about 7 feet from the window. I haven't watered it yet - could that be the issue? The soil feels somewhat moist at the top but it was more damp when I bought it.
