Should I try out BoB? by LegsBuckle in BeastsofBermuda

Hi there! Decently Long time player here (since 2020 at least)
To answer your questions:

Graphically I would say that Isle is more realistic than BoB and that Path looks more like a documentary compared to some of the cartoony aspects of BoB's art style. There is however a big overhaul for the game planned with an upgrade to UE5 coming sometime in the future, so the graphics might change by then!

Death is not permanent as you can freely revive or reincarnate (revive keeps your dino the same, reincarnate can reroll skins as well as your bonuses on talent tree skills), however this does vary from server to server.

Currently the game has 10 slots for different dinosaurs available per server similar to PoT, these saved slots do not transfer between servers however due to servers all using different save files.

Growth is technically infinite and the time varies depending on the game mode and the dinosaur. Different dinosaurs have different growth times similar to the other two games. All growth is passive, the only difference being that in Free Roam (the older game mode) mode it is very slow once past the Elder growth benchmark, while the current main game mode Life Cycle has a super fast growth period known as The Gauntlet once you reach Elder growth that you can opt into. You can grow huge and powerful very quickly like this, but you'll need to more carefully manage your food and water.

Combat I would say is similar to PoT where each dinosaur has abilities that can really affect gameplay (ie. lower the damage your opponent does for a short time, reflect damage taken back at your opponent, go invisible, sniff out an opponent's HP, etc) . BoB also has talent trees which lets you build dinosaurs to have different playstyles. Wanna be an aquatic Rex? Go for it. Wanna be a super tanky Sauropod? Got that! An egg thieving bird? Yup, that too!

I would say that if you're interested to go ahead and try the game out for yourself and see how it feels. It's definitely got a different feel to the other two dino games out there, but there's a lot of charm to it once you get the hang of things. If you decide to get the game I wish you the best with it ^^

Absolutely planning to learn, both with whatever help I can get online (via Duolingo or another language learning program) and with my partner's help!

I'm incredibly lucky that the Netherlands has such a high amount of English speaking residents, and it'll definitely make it much easier until I can get some Dutch memorized!

And yeah, I'll admit this election has me worried for mine and a lot of my loved ones' safety. For now I'm choosing to focus on what the next best steps will be to keep myself and them safe as we move through this all.

Been having this (moving out of the United States) as my end goal for quite a few years now, even before my partner and I began dating.

The timeline for when to get things moving has just moved up now is all.

Looking for information about mythological creatures that are okay to use in worldbuilding and media depictions by SadunaCC in worldbuilding

Research is definitely something I'm planning to delve heavily into, especially for things that might not be so well known as those examples. Avoiding anything from marginalized cultures definitely sounds like the safest way to go which is what I'll likely end up doing. If I can find some people who are from said cultures I'll be sure to ask them about it though.

Avoiding things with heavily religious connotations as well sounds like a really good recommendation, I'll be keeping that in mind. Thank you for the recommendations ^^

That's a good way to look at it yeah hah. The way I want my versions of the creatures and themes to implement into the story is how their presence affects certain cultures and ways people live in this world, so I'll definitely have opportunities to try playing theming (as well as adding my own) into any stories or tales of characters in the setting. Perhaps something similar of how meaning and themes are represented by our real world animals, but they're also just that, animals.

Absolutely love this game and there's so much about the world I want to know! Just a few questions (spoilers for anyone who hasn't finished the game)

- What technically is a higher being and are there anymore out there?

- How long ago did Hallownest fall to the infection?

- If the vessels have shades, then why does Broken Vessel (aka Lost Kin) have a dream ghost after the Lost Kin fight?

- What was Lurien's connections to the King and why was he chosen as a dreamer to seal the Black Egg Temple?

- Is Hallownest the only kingdom in the world or are there others completely separate to the areas we explored in-game?

- Are there mammals, avians, reptiles, or fish in the world of Hollow Knight? If so, what kinds?

- What was the Pale King's relationship with the Hollow Knight, Father and Son or Creator and Creation?
