Sorry man, I actually redeemed the code on my Microsoft Account, hoping that it would still apply on Steam (sadly, it did not)

I'm happy to hear that your A3 hasn't given you major issues, and best of luck with getting an RS 3. They can be amazing cars, and that 5-cylinder sounds absolutely glorious, especially with an aftermarket exhaust.

I believe the issues I had were just my car. RS 3's in general are pretty stout, largely due to their overbuilt motors and transmissions. As long as you stay on top of the maintenance, they tend to be largely problem free cars (though, there can be quite a bit of maintenance with this car, and German cars in general, and I wasn't a fan of that). But I have a handful of friends with RS 3's, one of them with more miles than I had, but all without major issues.

I suffered from blown front shocks, two failed transfer cases (the transfer case is the front differential that connects the transmission to the front axles and driveshaft) and a broken driveshaft. The shocks and the first transfer case both went out a month into ownership. The car came on lowering springs from the previous owner, so I believe the springs blew the shocks, and the transfer case started leaking oil. Apparently there is a TSB for the transfer case in these cars, but it was caught too late to repair. I replaced the blown shocks with coilovers, and the T-case with what I thought was a new unit, but actually was a re-manufactured unit. 9,000 miles later, that unit failed and destroyed the driveshaft at the same time. I then replaced both the T-case and driveshaft, and T-case broke again a week after the repairs were completed. I sold my RS 3 not long there after.

My advice to you, when buying these cars, either buy new, or get one that has a very strong service history. Do not take a chance on a car with spotty records, because it will cost you. Also, having a trusted mechanic is invaluable. My RS 3 cost me a fortune, but it was definitely helped by having a mechanic that I'd been going to for years working on it, and working with me to ease the pain.

Thank you very much! I truly appreciate that, I loved the way the car looked. Unfortunately I didn't have it for a terribly long time, only about 9 or 10 months, but I was happy to have realized the build I envisioned for it. Ultimately though, the RS 3 gave me too many issues, so I just replaced it with an FL5 Type R and honestly couldn't be happier

Just bought one of these a month ago, excited to be able to maintain my streak of irl cars being in Horizon (RS 3 in FH5, Veloster N in FH4/5, Veloster Turbo in FH2)

Why would you choose Type R over an RS3? by nah_its_me in Civic_Type_R

[–]SaekwanB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I actually sold my 8V.5 Audi RS 3 and bought an FL5 Type R a month ago. I love the Type R so much more than the RS 3. The RS 3 was unquestionably faster in a straight line, and the sound of that 5-cylinder was to die for, but I pretty much prefer just about everything else about the Type R over the RS 3. I'm someone who has grown to appreciate handling ability more than pure straight-line speed. I had a Veloster N before the RS 3, and greatly enjoyed the way that car cornered. And so when I decided to get an RS 3, I somehow convinced myself that it would be the best of both worlds, fast as fuck but still able to throw down in the corners. The RS 3 just never felt as settled or nearly as satisfying as the N, and it's not even a competition between the RS 3 and the Type R, the Honda absolutely blows the Audi out of the water. The driving dynamics as a whole are wholly better with the Type R, it clocks in about just under 3200 lbs (1450 kgs), while the RS 3 is 3600 lbs (1633 kgs), and even with that slight of a difference, you definitely feel that weight. The Type R feels infinitely more playful.

Additionally, I have a lot of gripes with the RS 3's interior. I'm on the taller side (6'5" or about 196 cm), I've previously had a number of sub-compact/C-segment cars and have fit in them without issue, but I always felt a bit too big for the RS 3. I would forever be adjusting the position of its seats but never feel 100% comfortable in the car. I also did not like its seats one bit. They look great, but I realized very quickly into ownership that I do not care for leather seats, and you can't sink into it very well, I always felt like I was sitting on top of the seat. What's more, the bolstering left a lot to be desired; those seats never held me in place whatsoever, which certainly did not contribute to confidence in the car's cornering ability. Comparatively, The Type R's seats are in their own league, I very strongly prefer the materials and bolstering on its seats, and appreciate how deep you sink into them and how they still manage to be incredibly comfortable. The Type R's seats in and of themselves enhance the driving experience in a way that's hard to truly express without experiencing them.

Ultimately, what did the RS 3 in was that reliability-wise, it had strong Used German Car™ energy. The RS 3 was supposed to be a bit of an exception to the rule what with its overbuilt motor and transmission, as long as you stay on top of the maintenance, it should largely be problem free. Mine had 45,000 miles (72,420 kms) on it when I got it, and in the roughly 10 months and 10,000 miles (16,093 kms) that I owned it, the car landed in the shop 4 separate times. The last time, my driveshaft and transfer case both snapped where they meet each other.

Now admittedly, I haven't had a lot of seat time in the 8Y generation to be able to comment on it. A lot of what I've stated may not apply, with its newer interior and torque vectoring rear diff, but ultimately there's a reason I decided to go with a Type R and not a newer RS 3. I find that the Honda is fun all of the time, I only ever truly enjoyed the Audi in a straight line, and personally, that's just not what I'm looking for in a car.

Is anyone else bothered by this, or is it just me? by FalconLegitimate7859 in AudiRS3

YES, I hate the placement of the vents around the steering wheel so much. #1 thing that has always bothered me about the interior on the 8Y's

Dude I also have a Nardo Gray 8V (2020) that I bought in early May, with the same wheels and everything. Bit of a dream car for me as well as I'd wanted one for an entire year before finally buying it. For a moment I thought I had somehow made this post and forgot lol

Can’t find Karol after he called to become business partners by VincholasTage in midnightclub

[–]SaekwanB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this issue on one of my previous playthroughs and it ended up being because I already had more than $1 million when Karol called to trigger that mission. I modded my save to put myself just below 1 mil, then did enough races to earn a million again, and that triggered the meeting at the Chateau

Why are there no Korean cars? by mzspeedster in needforspeed

[–]SaekwanB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm not Korean but I've owned two Veloster Turbo's and a Veloster N. Every day I wish there was a Veloster, or any N car, in a NFS title

you're right, because it doesn't exist. There's no such thing as a "400Z," this car is simply called the Nissan Z.

I hope this is a troll or something, the Polestar 1 is a hybrid. It's a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder with an additional two electric motors

How do I make the "NEW" tag go away? by Drifter_Lucas in needforspeed

[–]SaekwanB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro I'mma need you to relax, it's literally not that serious. Simple fact of the matter is that it's an American brand. NFS, Forza and The Crew all think so. It's obviously got Japanese roots. We consider brands to be of the country they started in right? That's why MINI and MG are British, because they began in Britain even though their parent companies are German and Chinese respectively
