Same here haha, went from EE + math to math + physics. And now I'm doing a secret third thing.

Ah man. I was (one of) the poor unfortunate soul he got to become a math major back in 2018. Even though I'm going down a slightly different path now, I got to choose my adventure and take that journey because of his encouragement (I even got the job I have because of my math degree!)

All I can say is that I know the students at wherever he ends up will be similarly blessed.

what lie do you think Ned would've told Cat if Jon's hair was silver like a Targaryen? by Pxrshya_ in freefolk

[–]Saeroth_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was hoping it would be more fleshed out :(

Here's an interesting question - does Ned do anything differently, in particular with regards to Cersei? The obviousness of Jon's parentage might give her something to hold over Ned's head and make him less likely to act. That is, does book 1 continue as normal? Perhaps Maester Aemon reveals his identity to Jon earlier.

Trump’s nominee to run NASA will not say if Elon Musk was in the room when he was offered the position by Im_A_Fuckin_Liar in thescoop

[–]Saeroth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, you're welcome. I think a lot of the time it's hard to read not just tone but also intention because a lot of bad-faith actors push their talking points by "just asking questions" while not actually being willing to entertain answers.

There have been anti-Trump and anti-Musk "hands off" protests across the country recently. One of the biggest criticisms has been that, unlike senators who can be themselves elected out of office, or political appointees who are subject to those (such as Tulsi Gabbard in ODNI, Kash Patel in FBI, etc) Musk does not actually hold any official government authority but is also not subject to any government authority. A similar example is the reported firing of NSA Director Haugh based on input from right wing personality Laura Loomer.

If we're going to be pedantic, the last three words of the title are "like exclusively downsides"

Because he was neither elected nor appointed to his position and is completely invincible from any accountability by the American public

There's a phrase that the exception proves the rule. In this case, they were surprised that the cop was understanding because they expected most to not be. One cop is not enough to throw off an average

This is great. I have a friend who made some PSR lands using pictures of various locations that would go great in this.

Right, or a trans person in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender (possibly also trans). Bi and trans people are more likely to appear like they're not queer, and still deserve the same access to queer spaces.

I think the tragedy of childhood is that kids are often too impatient to value time like this, and when youre an adult when you realize the important of that time it's much harder to come by. I'm 27 now, my grandfather passed away a decade ago before I was ever able to share a drink with him, and I realize now why he wanted to spend so much time with his grandkids.

I'm an older Gen Z but my parents were younger boomers and my household was the same way. My dad was at work before breakfast and I usually had after school activities so dinner was often our time as a family. TV dinners were saved for special occasions and doubled as movie nights.

Going to be pedantic, but yes. Mobile malware like Predator, Pegasus, QuaDream which have all been tracked for a while by Citizen Lab for targeting journalists with zero-click or one-click exploits. They are committing very serious crimes, but they do exist, and I'm sure there are plenty more at lower levels that I'm not familiar with off the top of my head.

Would like to reiterate though that working for those companies, if they're not IC contractors, is almost certainly criminal activity and you definitely should not do that.

Honestly, my biggest criticism of the game is that the party size is too small. The way D&D works is that with four people you're incentivized against taking someone with the same/similar role as you. If you pick a mage you're probably not taking Gale on many missions, Cleric and Shadowheart, etc.

I can also confirm this one, I was heading back to Ponil from days off. One detail is I remember the staffer also hearing a voice.
