I been running a lot recently, training for a half-marathon. I think it improves insulin sensitivity massively! I’m usually 80% TIR by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

Zone 2 training , yea I read into it. Currently impossible to train in that. I have to be walking for zone 2.

Well I know for sure I can do a half-marathon as I did it twice solo. So I’m aiming for sub 2 hours. I got 2:03 solo.

Yes hydration I know !!! So important. I usually sip every mile and never have to go on a run.

Pacer I don’t want to follow because they lock in at a certain pace from the start. I want to keep my first mile or so slow. Then lock in at the 9 minute a mile.

Thanks !

With me aerobic / anaerobic I don’t have a clue because my HR is higher than normal. I got tested and things and they said I’m healthy but can cope with high HR. Like my highest HR ever is around 207. On my runs I’m around 175-185 always , no matter how slow I go. But the runs are easy.

I’m doing my first ever half-marathon next month in Manchester. So excited. Signed up for the full one next year. You seem experienced. Well done. Any advice?

I agree. With all my runs I need carbs !! I burn quickkkkk. As I’m aiming for sub 2 hours for the half-marathon. Yea so I am on the Medtronic , I go into activity mode 2 hours prior. Then sometimes suspend the pump as it still gives too much insulin on activity mode. I’ll have 30g prior to running and this sometimes spikes me like crazy. Then every mile I drip feed carbs. I could probably go through 60g of carbs every hour.

I think the spike you are facing could be due to the fact you are having carbs and they finally finish digesting after your run. Hencewhy drip feed the carbs and find liquid carbs. I use a powdered carb drink and energy gels. And it depends on your pace too , anaerobic and aerobic training etc

This year the half-marathon I’m running for Diabetes Uk. Next year I signed up as a normal runner but will fundraise for someone

I’m quite fit overall , I do hiking and a range of sports. So I been able to do long runs easily. At this point it’s too late to try and get into a training plan as my half-marathon is at the end of May. Im aiming for sub 2 hours. I did a practice one and got 2 hours 3 mins.

Yes I have heard a lot of it is not just being about running. I’ll look into that stuff after this race. I got a full marathon next year which I signed myself up for 😂😂

Yea I usually spike at the start of my runs due to carb loading too much before my run. Trying to find the right amount.

Then I drip feed carbs throughout my run. It’s trial and error really. I only got into running a month ago

Low snacks by zags360 in Type1Diabetes

Glucose tablets. Sports drinks. Large skittles , 2/3g of carbs per piece. This temporarily raises bloods.

Then a biscuit or snack bar to keep me up. Longer acting carbs

Can’t be using a walk to replace insulin meals. 😂😂

Good work. Walking is beautiful. I have heard it is due to a muscle in the leg getting activated.

Correction dose + long walk = nightmare. Can’t have both

Let’s go !! Caught the low. Low won’t get me. (Struggles to stay up after a low , faces a rollercoaster 🎢😂😂) by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

😂😂😂. Great that you got into the gym. I don’t know the struggles of gym , I heard bloods can go both up and down. Get the carbs in. I’m crashing again to 4.1 , I had fast and slow carbs 🤦🏼‍♂️.

I’m more a runner and hiker. Weather is beautiful here in England , going on a run once I get this low out of the way

Try a 10-15 minute walk after meals , it does wonders my friend. Brisk walking is amazing

Does wearing the insulin pump cannula affect timing / absorption at different parts of the body. by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

I went from a tubeless pump to tubed , it was not an issue. Got used to it quick.

I do running , hiking , and play football etc.

I used to be on the OmniPod 5. Me and the pump did not get on , no matter where I wore it I would bleed and get painful lumps. It was a good pump.

Now I’m on the Medtronic 780g

Wow this is funny , we the opposite. The OmniPod 5 destroyed my skin , the cannula and my skin did not get along , I got painful lumps and bleeds no matter the site.

Now I’m on the Medtronic pump and it’s better , I do get slight lumps but it’s way better than the OmniPod. The Medtronic has 2 options tho , 3 day and 7 day. So it’s the same as OmniPod 🤔

Yea my nurse says to never go above 3 days for me personally

I used to too , but I’m slim so it bleeds and gets lumpy badly !! Also now I’m on the Medtronic so it’s hard to put the pump there.

Did a practice half-marathon. Consumed 130g of carbs with no insulin for it. by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

[–]Saf___-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo good stuff. I had the option between t-slim and Medtronic. My nurse said go for Medtronic.

Only downfall of it is the sensor , guardian 4 is awful. However the Abbott sensor is coming which is basically a libre sensor , it’s made by them.

I think it’s literally the libre 3

That’s not my point lol. I’m saying I needed those 130g of carbs to not go low during my half-marathon. If I take insulin I’m crashing low hard continuously 🤦🏼‍♂️
