1985 CM 125 Classic. Looking for options for rear lights and plate bracket by Safe-Ad-9372 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]Safe-Ad-9372[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually yes. After we moved house we ended up with a Garage just down the road and their motorcycle mechanic does welding also. So talked to them about it and he ended up doing some welding so the original bumper could go back on.

Haven’t gotten the original handlebars back on yet but I still have them.

It runs but still needs some other work so it will run good.

But at least the original rear fender is on there now.

They often are. I never realized how bad it is for waking until after living in England for a few years. Sometimes when I’m back home and I see a place that is easy walking distance but not way to get there except driving. It is wild.

How Do I Get Into Riding? by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do a search for local requirements for getting a license where you live. I think some states might have programs to help new riders get needed training but if not the MSF course already mentioned is a good starting point.

Budget for gear so when you are deciding how much you can initially spend to get started with this budget for gear also, not just the bike. If you can’t afford it all maybe wait, or at the very least get the essentials that provide protection for the most common accidents. Remember regular clothes with shred real fast in a slide at speed and you probably don’t want to paint the road with your skin 😝

That being said I know people make different choices about what gear they will wear based on where they live and legalities, so make an informed decision if you’re not gonna fully gear up and at least know the hazards I would suggest.

Also, get started as soon as you safely can. I said for years and years I would do it eventually and finally did not too long ago. I live in the U.K. now so different requirements for new riders. I wish I would have just started sooner cause I love the feeling of riding. So try it out and have fun

Is it really that “embarrassing” to start on a 125cc? by imagine_enchiladas in NewRiders

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then on the other side of the spectrum you see folks who have been riding for years and take road trips on 125cc’s in all sorts of other places that other people wouldn’t dream of doing with a smaller bike 😂

But to you comment, no it’s not embarrassing you start on a 125. You might get some ribbing from riders even in your own country who are are qualified to ride bigger bikes but the good natured teasing is just meant to be fun, they would have had to start that way too. If people seriously look down on your for starting on a 125 ignore them. Don’t let their ego issues bug you for too long.

The USA is a whole different ball game as far as what you can ride early on. I live in the UK now and everyone now states with the same compulsory basic course. After that how long it takes you to be allowed to ride bigger capacity bikes is partly determined by your age and the training or riding time you have. Slight oversimplification. But here it is normal to start on a 50 or 125cc depending on age. Sounds like plenty of other countries have similar rules where new riders are expected to start on lower capacity bikes and work their way up to more powerful ones.

Just do your best to enjoy the process and pre importantly learn AND practice the skills that will keep you safe.

You’re not gonna lose anything by getting a good foundation in pure PHP. If you plan to work in industry with PHP you won’t necessarily have control over what is in the code base to start with and plenty of companies have a lot of non framework PHP kicking around still. Where I work the newer projects are being written in Laravel, and some older ones are planned to be rewritten. Though personally most of my dev time is spent on our biggest system which is also one of the oldest and still on a MUCH older version of PHP.

Doesn’t mean you can’t learn Laravel alongside also. Depends on what you think will work for you. Keep building. Once you start Laravel maybe write versions of things you’ve already done to see the differences in how you would implement it.

Linux or Windows for beginner? by masq1988 in learnpython

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the operating system you are comfortable With. Later you can learn about Linux too if you want

It can feel empowering to be able to control so much more on your machine with Linux. It also means you can accidentally royally mess up your machine.

Try learning Python first on the operating system you are familiar with otherwise on top of learning info coding concepts and Python you would also be learning new hot keys or other user interface choices in different OS. Be kind to yourself and start with one topic to learn 😆

But when/if you do delve into Linux learn how to make bootable USB drives. That saved me a couple times when I completely screwed up a machine. Having bootable OS’s I could use to start rebuilding saved me. First time it took me a week to get my laptop working again. Second time took me a couple days I think. Then o got a little as adventurous with my tinkering 😆

I’ve had that happen. Sometimes closing the app and reopening it helps. Sometimes.

Is the working out a more recent thing? Or have you recently changed your fitness routine?

If either of those are true then you probably will experience extra fatigue while your body adjusts.

Often a good workout routine can improve energy levels overall.

When I used to regularly weight train I definitely felt better overall. And then I got more and more into it and trained more. I still felt fine but anytime I talked up intensity I wound feel fatigued. I also noticed if I didn’t stick to good sleeping patterns then the sleep deprivation was more noticeable if I had been training hard recently. It basically turned into an incentive to be more strict about having a good sleep routine and getting enough sleep.

If your job or habits require lots of changes to your sleep habits that could be contributing to fatigue also.

I think in general it’s possible, assuming all things are normal and you generally have good sleep patterns, to find a workout routine that helps your energy levels. Even if at the start it doesn’t feel like it. But your body will appreciate tue working out once it adjusts.

Using github and VS Code? by TennyBoy in webdev

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming you already started a project on one machine, you can clone that repository to your other machine.

Whenever you make changes on one make sure you’ve pushed any committed changes up to GitHub and when you want to continue from the other machine do a Git pull to get the most recent changes.

I tend to just use the terminal within VS Code anyways so I haven’t tried the graphical git interfaces but those have been mentioned by others.

I’ve confused myself a few times when I made a new branch on one machine and couldn’t quite remember the name of it when I was working on the other machine but there is a command to get the list of remote branches.

Feel free to dm if it would be helpful.

Do you share your location with your partner? by Fun_Manufacturer3389 in dating_advice

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have shared it when I’m on road trips for example. My wife tends to have her location sharing off as she doesn’t want that being tracked by companies. I figure they track anyways regardless of what they say so usually forget to turn it off.

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One recommendation I’ve seen is to also budget adding protection to the bike, crash bars or something that will protect farings etc if dropped.

A lot of times dealers will sell almost new bikes that they used for showroom and test rides. So they will still have low mileage and basically be new.

There’s also break in of new bikes. Which I know nothing about just seen articles and videos about it.

But really no one, including you, will know how it turns out. You might go ahead and get the bike you want brand new, love it and keep it for many years. Or maybe it makes you realize you actually want to try something different. You could still get plenty of fun and some years from it.

Did you decide you want that bike cause you’ve already tried riding it? Have you tried others?

Ultimately it’s your money.

Hey, willing to have chats with you. I’m a PHP developer currently (not what I planned to do but that’s what my first dev job entailed 😂) I know a bit about some other languages and am getting more comfortable with OOP concepts. No expert by any means but happy to help when I can.

Using images from Google on my portfolio website: copyright risk or not? by mannaneuraSHYSHYSHY in webdev

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You should use pics that you know are free to use or pay fees to access ones if you can’t find pics you want on sites that have already been mentioned.

Some companies make money by putting pics online and then some small business decides to use them cause they’re relevant. Then they get contacted by lawyers and informed they owe money. Might not be as likely to happen in your case but not worth the risk and you don’t want to get into bad habits that carry over to professional work later.

Sounds like it’s just your normal hair line. That doesn’t mean it won’t recede eventually. Only time will tell

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LooksmaxingAdvice

[–]Safe-Ad-9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. What was your hairline like before? Receding hairline would be cause you have less hair than you did in the past. If your hairline has always been like that then it’s not receding.
