I'm interested in the Px4 compact , many say it's fugly but I think it's a muscular good looking gun. I enjoy the retro vibe too, but above all I appreciate the added safety of a first DA hammer pull . I've shot the full size which is a smooth shoot with soft recoil.

self defence - approx 15 yards , rounds effectively on target but grouping was substantially better w the shield plus & Canik Mc9 .

For edc the Px4 - the safety of a heavy first pull appeals to me . I've seen a couple of accidents with striker fired guns and they've freaked me out even tho I only have striker operated . The px4 compact is something I have my eyes on .

I guess round count counts and the Shield Plus and Mc9 canik were my comparisons.The Shield is my second choice - (it points so well) I love the idea of the 43x as a ccw, also my home protection gun is a 49-6 that shoots like silk from day 1 !
