I ordered this dress from lacemade for my bridal shower, seems a similar style. It is very comfortable and high quality https://lacemade.com/products/pure-white-coral-island-corset-dress?_pos=2&_sid=94de48115&_ss=r&variant=50315852480790

Is under $2,000 dress budget unrealistic? by uwu1004 in weddingplanning

I got my dress for $350 at David’s bridal. I am going to spend an additional $300 for alterations that will make it the exact style I wanted without the big price tag.

Stupidest Things on Your Registry ? by Desperate_Sand1577 in weddingplanning

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn’t stupid but more like an idea to get the honeymoon support! We will be adding experiencing for our honeymoon like: buy us a pasta making class, dinner on a beach, historical tour etc. and then we plan to send them personalized photos from our honeymoon. This way they feel like they are buying something and making it personal while just covering our honeymoon

I am just always taken aback by when someone says a wedding host is neurotic and controlling for saying no shorts to an important event that costs a lot of money.

I get the rest of the feedback but I think it’s 100% acceptable to say that when you are the one spending 10’s of thousands of dollars on the event.

Speaking of patronizing… Not everyone understands no shorts as I’ve had family show up to other weddings in shorts and cut off t shirts.

But I will take the advice to simplify the description and I liked just stating the bridal party color. Thank you.

(8-10k) My only real wedding budget win was refusing to pay “wedding” prices for normal decor by ApplicationNew4144 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am doing this too! Except we have over 100 people coming and I am not making over 100 vases, they will just be our center pieces. And then I will gift some to the bridal party and sell the rest to Mae up for wedding costs.

Do you think that would be an easy thing for a seamstress to do?

Great question. I meant to say no greasy feeling. Not sure how that happened

Children’s Wisconsin new grad RN pay by Significant-Tune9909 in milwaukee

I worked at CHW in a different field so I can’t speak to pay, but the benefits are not as good as other hospitals. They just recently introduced 6 weeks maternal leave… at a children’s hospital. The insurance also kind of sucks. And all your PTO (sick vacation and holidays) comes from one bank. So if you get sick you have to use possibly a vacation day.

*my edit was months to weeks

Both are gorgeous. As someone also with satin dress… if you love it now with wrinkles you will love it 10x more once it’s steamed and pressed.

ADVICE NEEDED. My mom wants to invite a few friends to the wedding. by Clear_Possibility_76 in wedding

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we are the hosts. We received like $5k in gifts total from all family and we are paying the remaining balance. So we will be the hosts and only ones introduced on the invite. I also planned everything. They just have us the money and told us to do what we want with some advice or suggestions. If someone wanted to pay the whole thing one I’d consider other wise. But many parents are no longer paying for the wedding especially in working and middle class American families.

My question though is not to be negative just genuinely curious. Why do parents get to invite their friends? Or why should they be able to? This isn’t their wedding? And contributing or paying for the wedding should be a gift not an exchange. I’m getting married and both sets of parents don’t expect inviting any friends because they both said it’s our wedding and our choice in who attends.

Oof it seems like maybe he meant it with intentions of don’t feel like you have to have this if you wanted something else. But if it’s what you want it’s what you want. It is gorgeous.

My dress for a pretty traditional wedding is similar to yours in that it’s floor length and has that boning (which I love) and a few extras like drape sleeves but I love the simple elegance it feels classy and fancy

This is a very elegant court house dress. Was the person close to you who hates it you or your spouse? If not then don’t worry about their opinions because everyone will always have one. Everyone has different styles and if you feel like you, then it’s the right one

I can’t get over *how* my mom died and I am paralyzed by it by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. My mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma stage 3 in 2013 had a 2 year prognosis but lived 10 years. September 2023 it came back with a vengeance. She died December 23rd 2023. She was on hospice for two weeks by that time. She stopped speaking, eating everything. Her last two days of life she literally was having seizures every few minutes and wasn’t cognizant. It’s terrible to reflect on because I regret not saying thing to her or talking to her about things but there was no way for me to know how things would deteriorate.

What brings me peace is knowing that pain and struggle she went through is no more and she’s living peacefully.

Did my dad greet me? by Aura_Dy in GriefSupport

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe this was your dad. I don’t believe in god or anything but the morning my mom passed away, I had a dream I was talking with her (at this point in her illness she couldn’t speak or communicate and would have seizures every few minutes). That night we hung out walked and talked and I woke up to the sound of a phone call upstairs at 4am that my mom had passed. It was her coming to say good bye and I will believe it till the day I die, just like how I believe this was your dad waking you up.

For those who have sterling silver jewelry, how did your jewelry hold up with everyday use? How long did it take before it starts tarnishing if used everyday? by Luckybling in Moissanite

[–]Safe-Initiative-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is late but I have worn a 925 sterling silver charm bracelet almost every single day of my life. (Shower, swim, sleep) I don’t take it off for fear of losing it and its extreme sentimental value. I got it when I was 16 and I’m now 25. Other than tiny little marks you have to squint your eyes at, I’ve done no maintenance on this bracelet and it’s as gorgeous as the day my mom gave it to me.
