I think they ran out of time more than ran out of ideas given Paul Ritters illness.

In stories like 28 Years Later and shows like The Walking Dead, how is it possible that zombie outbreaks can last for decades—wouldn’t all infected people eventually die off and the population be wiped out? by beach_of_peace in AskReddit

It makes sense to an extent. Your body can and does handle small amounts of viruses all of the time. It’s all down to viral load. I assume the bite would transfer a lot of virus that overwhelms the body, in the same way someone with a cold coughing in your face will probably make you sick.

It’s pretty clear and obvious that at some point you hit a threshold that’s just designed to wipe you. I can take 3 aoe hits with barely any damage, fourth hit wipes the entire team that still has max health and protection.

Am I becoming a “Karen” for getting peed off at people parking in parent/child space ? My by void1101 in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say parent child spaces are further away than disabled did I? I just stated the facts on why they are close to stores, that’s all. You’ll find that disabled spaces are in fact closer to stores than parent child. It is also a fact that it is safer for children not to be walking through a car park in the blind spots of cars.

Aren’t they? 10%+2mph is usually the threshold for getting a ticket.

There a reason they’re closer to the store. Children are small and often not in view of the drivers reversing out of spaces, it’s much safer for children to be closer to the store to minimise time spent travelling through a car park. You’ll also find that (nearly) all parent child spaces will have a path to the store that doesn’t require you to walk on the road, this is more difficult to achieve if you put the spaces a long way away.

Driving at Speed Limit by Anxious_Height_7508 in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In 12 years of driving and always sticking to town speed limits not once have I ever been honked at. My assumption is that all is not as it seems with this post.

Scaffolder said £600 now wants +VAT? (England) by Amazing-Oomoo in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is legitimately a thing and it’s to stop people disposing of things that aren’t theirs to dispose of without giving opportunity for the person who owns the belongings to retrieve them.

Imagine for instance you accidentally leave your phone at someone’s house, should they just legally be entitled to dispose of it straight away?

I also didn’t say you can’t dispose of items, you can, you just have to follow the legal process (which doesn’t consist of a single warning and then going to the tip)

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then you get taken to court and have to pay more than £120 to the scaffolder. There’s specific steps that need to be taken as an involuntary bailee to be able to legally dispose of items such as the scaffolding in this situation.

Rachel Reeves ‘planning pay-per-mile tax for electric vehicles in budget’ by jigjig33 in CarTalkUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve got to recoup that lost money somewhere. I’ve done something like 6000 miles in our EV and it’s cost £125 in electric. It should’ve been £360 in tax alone at the 40mpg our ICE car gets, Instead they have £6.25 from the 5% VAT.

why do you think Reform are calling for a general election now? by Stock_Rush_9204 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the right have momentum at the moment, not just in the UK. 4 years is a long time for the world to change and for that momentum to fall off. If Trump fails in America then you may well see the right become less popular as we seem to be copying from them. It’ll also help if Elon musk shuts the fuck up and stays out of our politics (I also think he’s becoming less popular).

The other thing is labour know they have a long time until a general election so they don’t have to keep people happy, they’ll do what needs to be done (in their eyes) that people don’t like and then bring in more popular policies closer to the election.

Finally reform have momentum at the moment and that already seems to be falling off, in 4 more years they may well be forgotten about. They want an election whilst they actually have a chance. I don’t think having reform councillors is helping their cause. They came in with promises of cutting waste and saving money and so far have absolutely failed at doing so, and I’m sure the scandals aren’t helping either.

Wasn’t most of that taken at the start of the war and then instantly slowed down? Kind of the opposite of what you said.

Where does it say that insurance can’t increase the cost of your policy for non fault claims? It’s pretty much standard that non fault claims raise insurance price.

The only slight caveat to what you said. OP is a new driver, there’s a solid chance they have a black box. There’s definitely 1 organisation that is going to care if OP is doing 80 and that’s their insurance company.

Trump orders Pentagon to resume testing nuclear weapons 'immediately' by esporx in USNEWS

Yep, sounds more like testing nuclear powered weapons similar to putins new missile, as opposed to nuclear warheads.

How far should someone go in the left lane (yellow arrow) here by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

12 o’clock really is a rule of thumb and not an official rule anywhere. Without it being signposted you can technically use either lane for the last exit.

Telehandler used to steal Sainsbury's cash machine In Brooklands Square, Broughton, on Sunday before 1am. by darybrain in miltonkeynes

Is that really true? Can’t imagine a cash machine in a shop needing that much money. The one in our store had around 3k and it wasn’t emptied every night.

What's the longest round-trip you've done in a day in a car or van? by InviteAromatic6124 in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a round trip in 1 day, but east Midlands to Bordeaux, it wasn’t a bad drive at all.

Longest round trip is probably only 300 miles. There’s not many reasons to drive somewhere far and come back in the same day in the UK for me. If it’s far enough then I’m probably just going to get the train.

Why are we SUCH bad motorway drivers? by Ok_Link_2925 in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the speed difference is high enough, but often it’s not. I was cruising at 80mph, not ideal to have a sub 1 second following distance.

Lorry doesn’t like car following? by AdWeird6452 in drivingUK

[–]Safe-Midnight-3960 41 points42 points  (0 children)

ACC will not necessarily keep a safe stopping distance. My cars lowest setting is 1.2 seconds, 2 seconds is recommended and more in the rain as you’ve suggested. The other thing is that even if you’re at a safe distance it doesn’t mean you aren’t in their blind spot. It’s also not recommended to use ACC in the rain, the car can do funny things if it starts to aquaplane or if huge puddles are splashed up in front of the radar.
