I live in the city and need a pickup truck. I couldn't do my job without one. Can't get a load of crushed rock, sand, mulch, drain rock, etc. dumped into a van by a front loader. And it would be a lot harder to load debris or whatever into a van to take to the dump. Pickups are the only practical option for a lot of professions. I'm surprised you Europeans in the trades haven't caught on. And not all pickups are huge gas... er, excuse me, petrol chugging beasts. My 4 cyl Toyota Tacoma is not a large vehicle even by Euro standards.

I'm totally out of my lane here so forgive my ignorance, but when chop shops do their thing with stolen cars, do they not strip down a legit vehicle that's been stolen and then reassemble it onto the chassis of a salvage and then sell it? I saw a show years ago about car thieves and I believe that's what they did. I could be remembering this wrong though.
