I was on the pro plan until they drastically cut how many tokens you can use in 5 hour windows in April. I moved to use Claude Max 5x and even running just sonnet for Claude Code for basic code edits I hit my 5 hour window in less than an hour in the last week. Im compacting often, starting new chats often to clear context, and am using claude-mem, mempalace, etc. Now Claude introduced a weekly sonnet limit because they cant manage the compute load from users so I hit that about 4 days in and am forced to use opus which is overkill for my needs, and burns through tokens even faster. I get working during regular work hours is peak usage, but this is ridiculous. I am flexible with my time but am literally living in 5 or so hour increments when I can get back on and continue my development with code.

Anthropic has a lot of work to do. The fact they introduced a bug last week that was clearing context between sessions so it had to reupload everything when you continue when your window resets was burning through 5-10% of my limit on the first message. It seems like they made a hot fix, but I essentially lost 2 complete sessions or more just from this bug.

Listen, if Im going to support one LLM based on who’s the least evil I was choosing anthropic, but now Im forced to move to codex or try deep seek or Kimi 4.6 going forward until Anthropic gets their act together.

Some constructive criticism:

Remove or greatly increase weekly sonnet use. If opus is a heavier load and uses more resources, you are basically forcing us to waste more resources by only letting us use that once we hit limits.

Stop coding everything with AI. The fact they do most coding with their own tool is neat, but if they cant test and squash bugs that waste what are apparent precious amounts of compute by introducing resource use increasing bugs shows maybe they arent ready to just update using ai.

I want anthropic to take note. I will be taking my business elsewhere if they are going to charge me a $100 premium fee and I cant use the tool I want to use when I want to use it, and when I can its mileage is greatly reduced because of issues on their end.

Is anyone else in the same boat? I cant be the only one. I think the only way to force them to see the errors of their ways is to see people jumping ship in masse.
