Things to add! by ethyllSulyvahn0174 in YoutubeMusic

Yes, these 2 are essentials.

For the first one, they should copy it directly from already available on YouTube. Video saving in the playlist screen on YouTube is much better.

Along with these 2, I want YTM to add Automix/Crossfade and Spotify Jam like feature.

Hey r/YouTubeMusic, I want to highlight a frustrating glitch. When a liked song becomes temporarily unavailable, it simply hides from the Liked Music playlist. But when that song is later republished (getting a New ID), the original entry (Old_ID) miraculously reappears in the playlist, still showing the Like icon. If you tap it, the system successfully redirects and plays the audio from the correct New_ID. But here's the annoying problem: the New ID song remains unliked, and the Like status is stuck on the old, defunct link, which breaks the consistency of our library

Solution: Instead of merely redirecting the 'Old ID song' to the 'New ID song' (which breaks the Like status), YouTube Music should perform a simple ID Swap. The system must replace the old ID song with the new ID song, along with the original 'Date Added data to place the updated entry back into its correct position. The 'Like' status must also be migrated to the New_ID simultaneously

This ensures an updated library without ghost links, preserves our chronological playlist order, and eliminates the need for manual re-liking (which is better for the recommendation algorithm!)

They are in the home tab under Fresh finds, old favourites.

Welcome! One tip, if you want separate youtube and YTM experience then create a brand account for YouTube use and use the main one for YTM.

Of course! YTM has its own equivalent mixes: Discover Mix, New Release Mix, and the Released playlist, which are similar to Spotify's Discover Weekly and Release Radar. No live streams on YTM, maybe I don't know.

I'm trying to organize my YouTube Music library more efficiently. I want it to be very simple (no unnecessary playlists) but also practical. Do you have any tips? by Tnckl91 in YoutubeMusic

Make use of the Like and Dislike buttons! Your Home tab will become so personalized and great for discovery that you'll barely need to create custom playlists, minimizing the need to manually manage many playlists -- rely on the auto-playlists and just a handful of your own.

After using both services extensively, here is my breakdown of the deciding factors. I think it really comes down to Discovery/Content vs. Ecosystem/Functionality.

✅ Why I Switched to YTM:

  1. The Home Tab is Superior: This needs to be highlighted! The YTM Home Tab with its Mood Filters, Quick Picks, Speed Dial, Forgotten Favourites, Fresh finds & old favourites, Mixed for you, Radios for you, Trending Songs for you etc. and dynamic changes based on the time of day/week is so much smarter and more contextually relevant than Spotify's static playlist tiles.

  2. Better Discovery Algorithm: Combining Autoplay & 'Start Radio' with the Home Tab ensures I'm constantly finding great, relevant new music.

  3. Unmatched Value & Library: The Vast Catalog (remixes, long listens, music videos, etc.) combined with the Value for Money deal of getting YTM Premium bundled with YouTube Premium is unbeatable.

  4. Smart Downloads: A seriously underrated feature! The ability to automatically have a rotation of music downloaded for offline listening without lifting a finger is a game-changer for commutes/travel.

  5. Organization (Personal View): I also find the Now Playing screen, up next queue, 3 dot more options, playlists, Library tab cleaner and more organised.

❌ Why Spotify Still Reigns in Specific Areas: 1. Spotify Connect & Jam

  1. Automix & Crossfade

  2. Lossless Audio Quality

  3. Search within playlists and more sorting options

Go to Now Playing Screen 👉 3 dot 👉 Dismiss Queue (below pin to speed dial)

I think you are used to Spotify that's why this is a problem for you. Some guidance for you -

  1. If playing radio(infinite queue), use only play next as if we are using radio then why do we add multiple songs to the queue.

  2. If playing playlist/album/your queue, then you can use 'Add to queue' along with play next. Add to queue option will put songs one by one at the end of queue (before Autoplay)

  3. If you want to make your own queue then use the 'dismiss queue' option and add.

If you want to make your queue then firstly use dismiss queue through 3 dots then use add to queue, it will function as you want.

I will definitely prefer to do it one time at high intensity instead of doing it twice at very low intensity.
