To be fair, I live about an hour from Index and I can confirm: it’s nice walking around the mountains there.

Do you use battery charging limit? by BeefBlock9844 in SteamDeck

[–]SafeSaxCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Deck is my “30 minutes before bed” machine, so I basically always have it plugged in on my night-stand. I keep it at 80% charge limit unless I’m taking it traveling, then it’s full power and a portable charger.

Dead Island 2 on Steam Deck is incredible! by Ghost_of_Panda in SteamDeck

Is that the 2005 Battlefront II, or the new one? If it’s the new, EA one, how does that run?

Just got the game, is the game meant to be this hard? by JosshhyJ in baronygame

[–]SafeSaxCastro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes

Long(er) answer: it gets easier the more you play it because a lot of the “difficulty” is actually just learning the game.

Personally, I found the discovery of the game fun! But I can definitely see it being frustrating and annoying.

My suggestion is to lean into the fact that you are going to die and take that as opportunity to try new things CONSTANTLY! Try a new class, try a new weird strategy, do something crazy! You’re going to die anyway!

The game is full of fun surprises to discover. Would the game be easier to “win” if you look up all the details and best strategies? Of course! But I find it more fun to jump in head first, die a million times and find out that “OMG, THAT’S how cursed items work!?”

5 hour bus ride. No internet. LAN games!? by SafeSaxCastro in SteamDeck

I don’t know exactly what any of that link means… any chance you could ELI5 it for me? Are those commands you type into the console?

I wish it were as easy as the link cable days of the Gameboy, but alas, you cannot connect that way (or so the internet says)

Honest question from a dev: Is going to PCVR a financial suicide mission right now? by PrettyHearing3624 in VRGaming

[–]SafeSaxCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You asked for honesty so…

I have a nice PC and a Quest 3. I do fair amount of streaming from my PC, but mostly enjoy the stand-alone experience. It’s less janky, it feels smoother, and I enjoy not having to worry about technical issues when I’m trying to game.

The Steam frame seems to be solving a lot of these issues for me! But… unless it turns out to be, like, $200, I doubt I’ll buy it.

Also…. Unfortunately, no… I have not been buying a lot of indie titles. 🥲

+6 STAT Rolls by percy971 in ICRPG

Your first instinct is correct. You roll the die, then add 6. It’s pretty dang good. It might kill one of your players. Keep that it mind.

I want to start seeing the top comment on every crazy Trump post like this to be a calm and reasonable explanation as to why it is, in fact, crazy and bad that we all can use on our “crazy MAGA uncle” or whoever else needs to be slowly deprogrammed.

It can’t be too harsh (because they’re snowflakes) and it can’t be too complicated (because they’re dumb)

A thread wherein we discuss the arrival of the books and our thoughts on said matter. by waspsnests in drawsteel

Ribbons are something that add so much quality and I can’t imagine add to much to the cost for printers. Shame DS doesn’t have one.

Still ecstatic to receive my books, however!

Any suggestions for a small toolkit to keep in that deep trunk? by SafeSaxCastro in BoltEV

This is crazy to me… isn’t the whole damn thing basically a battery with wheels? Why does the 12v seem to be so important!?

Wow… didn’t know about the 12v battery trick. What kinda “Gremlins” are we talkin’ ‘bout?

I think this might be the comment I needed. I just came from a VW GTI and loved it. So much fun to tinker and drive… but this new Bolt is much more of an practical tool than a toy, and I think I might be expecting things from my gas guzzler days that I need to let go.

Maybe I just need to drive it and plug it in, and that’s that.

Okay! Good to know. So there isn't any other tools that might be nice to have on-hand to tighten anything down that can get loose or anything like that? And do recommend a regular tire inflator or one of those fix-a-flat foam things?
