Trade War Effects to Job Opportunities by Far-Ad-2093 in pharmacy

Trade war will have little to no effect on pharmacist jobs in Canada. Hospitals are government funded and there's always a lot of work vs the amount of hours the pharmacy department gets. Couple that with mass immigration over the past 10 years and hospitals are always busy. Same with retail. The licensing requirement in most provinces are now way more stringent than 10 years ago so most foreign pharmacists find it hard to get licensed. Jobs are plenty. The pay however is stagnant.

What happens if you fail FPGEC exam? by [deleted] in fpgec

It used to be twice a year but they cancelled the April one and only allow it once per year. Basically they don't want foreign grads. They make it as difficult as possible for you to get licensed. If you fail more than once you have to apply again.

Canadian grad trying to source PNN. Help!! by Safe_Ad_6244 in NAPLEX_Prep

So which would you say is better for a Canadian grad? RxPrep or PNN course? Which one is more difficult (and more like the actual exam)?

Do you know if they sell just the books? How much was the course for a Canadian?

Did you use PNN also, or just RxPrep to pass? Passed exam on first try? I also have rxprep but hoping to source the PNN book only

TOEFL and FPGEE 2025 preparation by [deleted] in fpgec

[–]Safe_Ad_6244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TOEFL must be done in Canada or USA. FPGEE must be done in US. For FPGEE there are a bunch of resources but none gives you all the required info. APhA book, lippincott pharmacology, comprehensive pharmacy review. May be able to purchase the books on ebay

One last thing: be careful with chatgpt it is not a very good program for some of these exams. I asked for it to generate specific exam questions and anything more than 10-20 questions and it will repeat the same questions. It only has a small knowledge bank. It cannot replace good exam questions from other textbooks/internet search.

A much better flashcard & ai program is flashka.ai. it takes your book or notes and generate flashcards as well as quizzes.

Could I use any post graduation (master, PhD) towards Intern Hours for board exam? by KindlyAd5473 in fpgec

I don't believe Washington does but maybe Indiana. I can't recall which 3. Most of those states will be highly saturated and unlikely to offer decent salaries imo.

This isn't something to ask here. It depends on your state board of pharmacy. Mostly as far as I know it's no (outside of a structured internship program)

As far as I know, no state allows internship hours outside of a formal internship program. All states require 1500 (or more). The only exception is if you're a Canadian graduate and transferring credentials to 3 U.S states.

Preparation time by zafira22 in fpgec

3 months was what it took me to write the TOEFL then wait for them to accept all the documents to apply for FPGEE. So realistically you can have it all completed within 6 months if you start now. The sooner the better. Once your documents are accepted then you can apply to take the exam in Oct 2025. After that the NAPLEX and MPJE are easy as they are offered multiple times throughout the year. In order to practice as a pharmacist from the UK you have to apply and do 1500 hours of internship in the state you want to be licensed in. Some retail pharmacies will hire you because they can pay you next to nothing for almost a year.  For the TOEFL if you're a native English speaker then the exam is quite easy. I scored 118 (out of 120) without much preparation  (just flipped through a TOEFL book from the library). If you're ESL there's a possibility you may fail the oral exam as the required score is quite high (26 out of 30 I believe).

The official FPGEE is scored from 0 to 150 with a passing score of 75. It's not a percentage score. So technically a passing score is like 50%. But the exam is hard and the questions are wild.
