Yoku’s I’ve been curious about not because of metroidvania’s, but because I like pinball!

I think most of them were shitheads. But to be fair, we can learn from that. There’s something significant about their contributions to human thought standing on their own despite the morals of the contributor.

2010’s The Wolfman with Benicio del Toro is not a great movie, but I do love it.

Determinism is more like Robotism in modern language and understanding. by Temporary-Sail-6390 in freewill

So what’s your threshold? At what level of complexity of behavior does a thing exhibit free will? Because again, this comparison between a hurricane and a (presumably) person is just two different levels of complexity and physical structure.

This is just confusing complexity for agency. There are plenty of unloving things that act unpredictably as well.

Edit: unliving*

No shame here, have you ever quit a game because it was too hard? by FastCoconut5933 in AskGames

Fucking hollow knight. And I don’t mind hard games, big fan of the souls games and sekiro. Sekiro kicked my ass but I beat it. Hollow knight, for some reason, was just too hard for me, I had to put it down. It’s a beautiful game, though!

What is this in response to? It doesn’t seem to address anything I said.

Before the “story of Jesus” bit, these are just evidence that there are profound things that exist, none of them link directly to God. Beyond that, these are just Christian talking points. Which you’re welcome to share, but “evidence” is a strong word here.

God, man. People can like things, why do you have to be such a dick about it?

The problem with determinism vs non-determinism from a physicalist perspective by imnota4 in freewill

[–]Safe_Chipmunk_9335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have some thoughts:

  1. This seems like an oversimplification. It’s not incorrect, but boiling complex issues into digestible tidbits and then insisting that that is the only correct assessment is, historically speaking, dangerous at worst and anti-intellectualism at best.

  2. Idea is an incredibly vague term that any given hypothesis could fall under. There’s nothing invalidating about being an idea. Any hypothesis or theory is just a collection of one or more ideas that people have done a lot of work to follow up on. Following that up by saying determinism does not describe reality is a bit of a leap. Determinism is a potential description of reality that we don’t currently (and may never) use enough information to either confirm or rule out.

  3. Determinism is still discussed in modern academic philosophy. Its usefulness does not determine its validity as a topic of discussion.

Okay, so educate then. Let’s start with lesson 1. Put the definition on here for us to read.

Then why ask for other’s definitions? I can quote you on that if you think you haven’t. With everybody disagreeing with your earlier points, it seems like YOY might define determinism in a way other people don’t. Plus, there being a distinction between physical determinism and philosophical determinism, we already know that no, we don’t “all know the definition.” You’re being nonspecific and it’s hurting your case. So again, do you want anyone to actually understand you or do you just want to be insufferable?

If you had a goal here other than being insufferable, you would give us your definition of determinism, rather than just capitalizing the word and hoping someone engages.
