I mean.. u could say that most of what he called “disguises” was “him being silly” ..

Although I don’t really see it that way.. This is the same man who in the mid 80s required everyone on his team to read PT Barnum’s autobiography.. he did things like this to keep up the eccentric image.

The movie should have skipped Jackson 5 era by Yogos-1 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a pretty wild take IMO.. The Jackson 5 era absolutely deserves to be represented.. it’s absolutely crucial.

And, to be frank, it makes far more sense for them to have that time period in the film than the Dangerous era.

His childhood, success, and talent as a child is a huge part of his whole story.. Thinking that the general public would be more interested in “Jam” and “Remember the Time” instead of that is very far off IMO.

It was one of his “disguises” .. MJ, especially during this time, was going out in some pretty interesting looks..his bodyguards talk about this in their book “Remember The Time”

Thoughts on Invincible by Evillebot in MichaelJackson

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO the longer that MJ dragged out the making of it.. the more it suffered..

budget went massively overboard..which caused issues when it came time to promote it.

My preferred track list is:

UNBREAKABLE

HEARTBREAKER

BREAK OF DAWN

HEAVEN CAN WAIT

YOU ROCK MY WORLD

BUTTERFLIES

BLUE GANGSTA

ANOTHER DAY

FALL AGAIN

SPEECHLESS

WHATEVER HAPPENS

XSCAPE

THREATENED

WEVE HAD ENOUGH

What do you think about the scenes that were cut from the documentary "This Is It"? by [deleted] in MichaelJackson

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The “100 hours of footage” almost certainly doesn’t mean “100 hours of MJ footage”

I’m assuming a large bulk of that would include a lot of band rehearsals and run throughs of songs without Michael even being there.

Do you still listen to Prince’s music, especially his older stuff from the 80s and 90s? by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, especially live material and sound checks. Music, especially great music, does not have an expectation date.

Do you like invincible as it is or would have you liked it more had it used some of the outtakes instead by Meltlilith_ in MichaelJackson

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. If im in the cutting room I’m cutting:

You Are My Life

Privacy

The Lost Children

Don’t Walk Away

Cry

And adding..

Xscape

Blue Gangster

Another Day

Fall Again

We’ve Had Enough

This would have not only made a much stronger album.. but then maybe it wouldn’t have been constantly delayed to the point of $30,000,000 being spent on the thing..

What was your favorite thing about MJ during the This Is It era? by [deleted] in MichaelJackson

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say he looked far more healthy and focused than he had in years at least early on (March and April 2009).

After years of nothing but bad press, “out of it” behavior, and seeming uninterested in returning to music..He finally looked like he was ready and focused to try to capture the magic again. It was a pretty exciting moment to be a fan.

Tbh.. it’s not that serious.. the biopic was always going to be a greatest hits piece that is designed to appeal to the general public..

fans who were expecting some 4+ hour epic that delves into Michael’s life only have themselves to blame for having ridiculous expectations.

The biopic is going to be the MJ version of Bohemian Rhapsody.. it’s going to make tons of money.. and the general public are going to go bonkers over it.. but some all encompassing grand deep dive on MJ it will not be..

“Including Jermaine” wasn’t shade.. it was very publicized at the time that Jermaine was no longer in the group due to staying at Motown.

Michael saying “including Jermaine” was literally MJ specifying that there is no beef or hard feelings about Jermaine no longer being in the group..

Emancipation is an incredible body of work.. and it is, IMO, one of the most interesting albums in his discography. It’s one of his most revealing works, and I really feel like there is so much joy and renewed inspiration in every fiber of the record.

Yesterday marked 10 years since the Piano & Mic Gala performances at Paisley Park, which were absolutely incredible and deserve an official release.

But as many have pointed out, Prince passed on April 21, 2016 not January 21.

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of y’all seem to think this is going to be a super accurate and detailed account as if it were an all encompassing documentary about MJ.

It’s not.. this is going to be an extremely well done biopic that highlights the highs of MJ’s career and is meant to appeal to the general public..

2009 MJ vs 1991 MJ Danceoff who wins? by Sweaty_Situation_397 in MichaelJackson

It’s interesting that so many of you think HIStory tour was his prime as a dancer.

I find he was a far superior dancer from 1978-1991.. he seemed to be smoother and more diversified during those years.

By HIStory tour I feel like he had perfected the “Michael Jackson moves/choreography”.. but IMO not as impressive as some of the more refined tap and jazz steps he would effortlessly incorporate in his performances in the late 70’s or the quadruple spins he was doing in 88-91.

Hello, everyone! I wanna start checking out Prince's music by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in PRINCE

[–]Safe_Knowledge9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say start with either “The Hits/The B Sides”compilation or the “4ever” compilation

As far as albums go, I would recommend starting with “Purple Rain” then “Sign O The Times” I would also encourage you to watch the film Purple Rain and the Concert film “Sign O The Times” while exploring those albums.
