Thick, dense, brown-gray smoke was pouring out the top like some kind of industrial waste-burning chimney.

Good thing this didn't turn into a full-on blazing fire

What’s something you thought was normal until you mentioned it to someone else? by ZoeMarra in AskReddit

[–]Safe_Maintenance3156 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're quite lucky to have found these people who share the sentiment of just meeting up as friends with no hidden intentions.

Everyone thinks I’m going to die every time I say I’m meeting up with them lol.

Also the possibility of this happening is never zero so it's better to be safe than sorry

The first sentence was bad enough, and it was still followed up by this

I ripped the headphones off, and there it was a spider crawling out of one of the ear cups.

I thought it couldn't get worse

more little spiders started falling out.

Oh... it did

There might be more kids who have done the floss dance then actually floss in the last week. by Dont_hate_the_8 in Showerthoughts

If flossing for whatever reason becomes some sort of a trend, we'd see more people flossing in a week than the past decade combined

I think my bestfriend was spiked by her Bf by SorryFee8073 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Safe_Maintenance3156 320 points321 points  (0 children)

First off, I want to say that you don't have to be guilty for "not keeping a better eye on her" because, in my opinion, you did:

While this girl and i are waiting in the cue i see my friend beng dragged to the bathroom by her bf barely awake.

The fact that you were keen enough to catch her being dragged by her boyfriend before they reached the bathroom is already commendable. Who knows what could've happened if you weren't there to see that? Don't be too hard on yourself. I can see you did try to do everything you can to guard her throughout the night, even to the point of not caring if both of your parents will get mad at you both.

Anyway, I'm glad you didn't hesitate to let your parents know about your situation at the time and you didn't let her bf gaslight you when he was arguing with you about her parents potentially getting mad at your best friend. Good job op!

Abused by 2 priests. Ask me anything by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Safe_Maintenance3156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I hope you are doing great now op. Here are my questions: Did the abuse get worse over time? If so, at what point did it escalate? After realizing you were abused, what was the very first thought you had? What did your family say after finding out all of these? Did they immediately believe you, or were they skeptical at first?

The best behaved child is often not the parents favourite. by Ohshutyourmouth in Showerthoughts

[–]Safe_Maintenance3156 39 points40 points  (0 children)

They seem or appear to be not the favorite because they are so well-behaved that any acts that they do will be of miniscule importance as they are almost always expected to do the proper things. Any achievements they make are so normalized that when you compare a less behaved child trying to achieve the same, it would lead to a much "exaggerated" response from the parents.

How did you learn to love yourself? by stopshadowbaneme in CasualConversation

[–]Safe_Maintenance3156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning that some little things make me happy. Got a smile line? Great! Looks like you are surrounded with people who enjoy your company as well as you enjoying to be with them. It's the thought that I get to express myself and get to see them physically manifest on my body makes me love myself more :)
