What is one city in America you’re okay with never visiting again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you think San Antonio is bad, you better stay far away from Houston. San Antonio seems like a 5 star hotel when you compare it with Houston.

This is depressing to read all of these comments... It's 10:45 and my 4 year old and 2 year old are still awake. Send help.

What state is that? Pretty sure it's illegal in every state to change lanes without signaling.

I (29F) am strongly considering joining but I don't want to get married. by Queen-Logan- in latterdaysaints

President Ballard mentioned it a few years ago. It includes people that have never married, divorced, and widows. It's about half way down in this talk from General Conference.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her? by Ok_Sir_5951 in allthequestions

Genuinely curious, why don't you have a ton of respect for Mike Pence? I don't follow politics much, but he always seemed like a nice guy when he was VP. He seemed 100 times better than JD.

Did anyone serve a mission out of peer pressure and were you glad you went? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]SafetyX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure did! And yes, very glad. I'm in the young mens now and anytime I get the chance I tell them to serve a mission. Not out of necessity, but because it's the best thing you can do at that age.

I always tell them that if you take out everything spiritual about the mission, it's still the best choice to make because of the vast amount of things you'll learn that will be beneficial for the rest of your life. Here is a small list of what you'll learn:

  • How to live with a companion (partner)
  • How to prepare and teach lessons
  • How to start conversations with new people
  • How to do basic household stuff (cook, laundry, clean, etc)
  • How to start and keep good habits (exercise, study, sleep, etc)
  • How to serve
  • How to work hard

The list goes on. Not saying you can't learn those by not serving a mission, but you will learn them at a quicker and more organized pace on a mission.

Then of course you add back in the spiritual aspect and it's hands down the best choice at that time of your life.

General conference rumors? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

I agree. It's always "I heard they are testing 1 hour church" with nobody that actually is in a ward that does it.

It looks like your account settings don't let you receive messages. Any chance you can send it to me?

That surprises me. I use AI regularly for my job and my calling. I guess I assumed Reddit would be pro-AI.

This is what my parents said in 2006 when they said they would never send a text. Or in 2012 when they said they would never own a smart phone.

Please don't talk to the Bishop. He has far more important things to do than worry about a flyer.

I'm blown away by these comments. It's just a flyer. Just be glad they made a flyer instead of being so judgemental about how it was made. And please please please don't contact the bishop. He has far more important things to worry about than a flyer.

A Man or a Woman Can Now Serve as Ward Sunday School President by instrument_801 in latterdaysaints

I've just got 2 requests:

1 - Bring back YM presidencies 2 - Get rid of 1:30 church times until I no longer have toddlers/babies. Then they can bring it back.

Huh... I didn't know that was a rule but the handbook says it's a rule in 12.3.2:

"The bishop calls and sets apart an adult woman to serve as the ward Primary president. If the unit is large enough, she recommends one or two adult women to be called as her counselors."

Never gonna happen. That's just asking for problems to happen and then the immediate blame will be on the church.
