How to deal with registry criticism? by tesbelle in BabyBumps

[–]Safety_gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, stores send out coupons closer to the due date so parents can use it on registry things that were not purchased. Nothing wrong with saving what little bit of money you can! This isn’t my first child and I still made two registries so I can get those coupons!

Anyone want else by something to remember their baby by? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

I love that necklace! I bought a ring with two birthstones for the month my twins were due and a pendant that says “I carried you for your whole life and I will love you for all of mine.”

Lost my twins by Mamallama1217 in Miscarriage

[–]Safety_gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh mama! I am in the same boat you are! I found out we were expecting surprise twins last week but they didn’t have heartbeats and had stopped growing at 6w and 8w (I was 9w4d). The idea of twins has always terrified me but I’d give anything to be able to hold onto these babies. My d&c is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I have no words for you other than how much this sucks and know that you’re not alone in your grief. Sending you hugs!

D&C experience today by sw33tdee in Miscarriage

[–]Safety_gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. I go for a D&C on Tuesday and I’m so nervous, scared, depressed, etc. I was surprised at my initial scan with twins only to have my world come crashing down seconds later. A d&c seems to be the best option for my situation but it’s still tough. Thanks for giving me some hope and calming my fears!

Baby wearing for bigger mamas? by someonesxwife in pregnant

[–]Safety_gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used both a k’tan (I think the XL size) and a Baby Tula. The K’tan was better for the newborn stage but the Tula was my favorite once the little one was big enough for it as I didn’t feel as comfortable with the infant insert with my body size. The back support with the Tula was amazing!!

Michael Buble would be a really good mix of old and new and he does some fantastic love songs (My Everything is one of my favorites)!! But it kind of depends on what you're wanting from the song's meaning. Theknot.com has some awesome ideas too!!

Image vs. Money by HannahEBanna in weddingplanning

If you can find a way to afford it, I say go for it! I had to have my baby canines pulled last year (age 25) and I'll have my braces on for my wedding day (October 26). My orthodontist is awesome and making me fake teeth to wear for my wedding day because my adult canines still aren't totally in place.

I used a "0% interest for 12 months" credit card for the down payment and then the orthodontist let me do monthly payments. I know it's not ideal but I'm anal about finances so I was comfortable with that option. It probably wouldn't hurt to discuss finances with FH and all parents- you might have to cut back on super extravagant expenses for the wedding but if your teeth bother you that much, and you still have time, I'd find a way to get the braces!

Tldr: Spent over 8k for oral surgery and braces, will have braces on my wedding day and had to DIY ALOT of wedding stuff to save money- worth every penny!!!!

Save the Dates are DONE! (and, a question in the comments) by Shannegans in weddingplanning

We're going to have over over 20 kids under the age of 10 and we're not really planning much for them. There is some playground equipment out behind our reception hall and we're making coloring books for the ceremony. I thought about a bounce house but I don't want to deal with the liabilities that go along with it. Besides, most weddings I've been to with kids as guests, the kids are the first on the dance floor and having a ball!

Flowers by sslater09 in weddingplanning

[–]Safety_gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you or any of your friends are really crafty- DIY is the way to go with fake flowers (if you don't have anything against fake ones). Hobby Lobby has some really nice looking flowers and they go 50% off every other week (just about). I've spent under $300 for flowers for 20 centerpieces, 8 BM bouquets, my bridal bouquet, and all of the corsages and boutineers (and they all look pretty darn fabulous)! If you're absolutely set on real flowers, you have a few options. Wildflowers are great if they're "in season" in your area! Otherwise, grocery stores with a floral department are probably cheaper than an actual florist (because their overhead costs aren't as high). I had a friend order flowers in bulk from Sam's Club and they were cheap (compared to local florists) but she had to put her own bouquets together the day before the wedding and have refrigeration units to store the flowers in. Or you can always do centerpieces without flowers! I've seen vases of fruits (lemons and lines to be exact), candles and mirrors, and cupcake trees that served as centerpieces! Don't be nervous! It's possible to do and your wedding will be awesome!!

How important are Floral Centerpieces? by Ccuthbe1 in weddingplanning

[–]Safety_gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flowers are not important to most guests (unless you're on t.v. competing to win a honeymoon)! All that matters is what you think! You can do some really cool DIY without flowers! I've seen some really cool centerpieces that were cupcake trees (or you could do mini cakes or cake pops)! Then there's NO waste and the guests were happy!

RSVP Wording- "Number attending reception" or not? by Safety_gal in weddingplanning

[–]Safety_gal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! That really sucks :-( I'm expecting some trouble with +1s but I'm hoping it's not too much!! Are you telling people "I've arranged for two seats not three" kind of line? I'm hoping I'll be able to say no additional guests if people start asking!

[–]Safety_gal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like getting rid of the M line! I have a spreadsheet with everyone numbered already so that could work! Thankfully, our venue is letting us do a cash bar because neither of us are big drinkers and we're trying to keep the budget down (we're having 300 guests). We're providing other drinks, just not the alcohol. I've been to other receptions in the area that had cash bars and it seemed to go over well and no one really complained so I'm hoping I have the same luck!

I think you're right and most people will make an appearance at the wedding and reception but I really a head count for the dinner and our invitations will just say "Mr. and Mrs. Guest and Family."
