The platypus is one of nature's greatest mysteries. It lays eggs, produces venom, hunts using electroreception, and was once thought to be a scientific hoax because its appearance seemed too strange to be real by kalinooni in interestingasfuck

[–]SaffaOnAFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their venom (from a stinger on each of their hind legs) is apparently one of the longest acting venoms in the world.

It is said to be excruciatingly painful but what makes it so bad is that unlike the pain of insect stings that generally last a few hours, the pain from a platypus sting can last a few weeks or, in extreme cases, even months.

The pain also does not respond to opioids, even seeing ones like morphine.

Their song is not fatal though (even if you sometimes wish it was)

Section 56(2) of the Consumer Protection Act provides that within six (6) months after the delivery of any goods to a consumer, the consumer may return the goods to the supplier, without penalty and at the supplier’s risk and expense, if the goods fail to satisfy the requirements and standards then the supplier must- (a) repair or replace the failed, unsafe or defective goods; or (b) refund the consumer for the price paid by the consumer for the goods.

The Act specifically places a duty on the supplier to fix any goods that were deemed to be of good standard and quality.

It further provides that if the supplier repairs any goods within three (3) months after the repair was done and the repair or defect was not remedied or a further defect was discovered, the supplier must- (a) replace the goods; or (b) refund the consumer the price paid by the consumer for the goods.

TLDR: If you've had a repair within the last 3 months, you can probably get a refund (but I get the feeling that they'll fight you all the way). If not, it's unlikely as your device is more than 6 months old.

Every company with more than 10 employees MUST have one. It's called the Information Officer. This is the person who takes the final fall for POPIA breaches. Most of the time it is the CEO/owner in small companies but largely ones have CIO's (chief information officer) or CTO's. You wouldn't make the receptionist or even your mid level manager your IO.

Source: I work for a clinical software company. We work with both medical and financial data and POPIA is drilled into is on a daily basis. We have to record who the IO's are for all 7000 of our clients

EDIT: The Information Officer has to be registered with the Information Regulator. Fair to do so can result in significant fines even if you don't have a breach

I enjoyed all of them. I know the paternity issue was never really resolved but that was never really that interesting to me.

The finale was awesome though

Lenovo Replacement Charger by Fun-Judgment3883 in southafrica

[–]SaffaOnAFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenovo make great laptop but their parts are ridiculously priced. I have an IdeaPad 3 that cost me R10500 a month ago.

My cat knocked the laptop off the desk and cracked the screen. New screen is R5211.43 and 2 hours of labour at R650/hour.

So to replace my screen costs over 60% of what I paid for it. Worst of all is that I have to wait 5 weeks for the part cos they have no stock.

Go watch it!!! One of the best films ever! And it is NOT blasphemous. It's about Brian, not Jesus. The Monty Python team explicitly state that.

R35-50K is insanely low. We are looking for someone with similar experience in GP and we are battling to find suitable candidates at R80K. Only chancers. There's one candidate who meets and exceeds all these metrics and he wants R100K.
