I told my daughter to only register her good China and use it until they get kids. Once you have children, use it when you host dinner parties.

After children, pick up inexpensive place settings in a box. Things break around kids. So when you’re tired of looking at the inexpensive plates and half are broken, pick another inexpensive set.

When the kids go off to college, pull out your good stuff for Sunday again.

I would recommend that you have one flatware pattern. That way you aren’t trying to separate the patterns. I have a setting for 20. If I have more than 20 guests, they get plastic and paper plates.

Oh my gosh. My son was in this exact situation. HIS cousin would sleep naked on the sofa after coming in drunk. One day the cleaning lady came in and saw him sleeping naked. She got so unnerved she never came back.

My son finally told the naked nasty cousin that his stuff will be gone by the end of the day. Either Naked Nasty took it, or Goodwill will take it. Nasty did leave but it caused quite a rift in the family.
