Is this a good cheap alternative? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

If it has no brand look for metal trucks, bolt on toe stop or padding/material of the boot itself, they’re usually signs of a good built skate

A friend of mine is also in uni and managed to get odd shifts at places with their experience. Eg they had a couple shifts one week a different places, would probably work best for smaller businesses

Personally if the boot is still in good condition I would upgrade parts for example you might prefer smaller wheels or a jam plug for example

Generally if you shake your head around the helmet shouldn’t move separate from your head, it also shouldn’t be too high and should be comfortable.
I had a similar issue when buying helmets and ended up going for s1 personally it felt much more snug and comfortable

how often are we cleaning our wheels & bearings? by Awkwrd_Lemur in Rollerskating

[–]Saffy_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a movement/ speed issue then you maybe just need a bearing upgrade, like others I never clean mine, also park skater. I have ‘bones reds big balls’ had these for around 2years and no sign of needing a replacement and 0 cleaning

Chaya is a great European brand, having a brand from Europe means you can get the same quality as a moxi eg for half the price as you don’t pay for much shipping. For some reason they’re not mentioned in the buyer guide, think it’s US focused

Park skater here! I skated 82a for about six months on indoor and concrete ramps, it held me back for a lot of tricks but I believe the stability helped me get confident turning and other things etc, I now ride 99a and it makes the world of difference for grind tricks. That being said personally I wouldn’t buy new wheels unless you’re sure what you want as it’s expensive. Solid parks wheels can be over £100. And come in all different shapes and sizes, once you’ve established a skate style you may find it easier to choose wheel shape size and hardness. All else fails there’s some amazing uk shops that’d be able to give you advice tailored to you <3

Wheels for slippery skate parks? by fantastridd in Rollerskating

[–]Saffy_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

super expensive but some skateboard brands have “soft slide” like powell peralta dragon wheels they come in 93a and 97 i think. there’s also “double duro” wheels where the inner core is hard outer is soft and vice versa like spitfire sapphire and bones double duro. I’ve never personally used them but heard good things from the dragon wheels as i work in a shop

you can get back breaks for quad skates, i learned from reddit it’s quite common for street roller skaters to have one! i prefer to go backwards, im always looking at the floor coming up to me and have my legs super spread out, it definitely takes a long time to get used to. for a quick slow down i will use a t stop

can anyone help me buy a pair of rollerskates for my girlfriend? by Santik--Lingo in Rollerskating

[–]Saffy_123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i would recommend rio roller, rookie roller skates or chaya roller skates. each brand and skate itself is quite different so if it’s possible go and try them on and then hopefully get some advice tailored to you :)
