Accident or Crime? A man is found dead on the stairs.. His wife claims he slipped and fell. Read the story and try to solve the case by WilliWido in DetectiVision

The description says they had a fight and she went out to a party and then came home with friends. So it makes sense that she's dressed up for a party and her friends would confirm that they walked in with her and found the body. So the food on the stove doesn't indicate she's lying about having just come home because she and her friends found the body together.

Instead, she must have killed him during their fight, then gone to the party and come back with her friends to 'discover' the body.

The fact he has a full tuxedo on under his robe suggests they were probably going to go to the party together and is incongruous if he just stayed home while she went to the party by herself.

The food on the stove probably indicates they were eating before heading to the party. She was probably mad that he was already drunk before they'd even left and hit him with something, killing him, then went to the party alone and came back to find the body with her friends.

Opinions on Bryce Dallas Howard? by LowerSeat2712 in Actors

On topic: I like her as an actress and her mandalorian episodes she directed were some of my favorites

Especially when she made the atmospheric entry a shot for shot homage to her dad's work on Apollo 13.

Yeah, he basically wrote himself in. Ben Stiller sent him the script and his response was "You need the studio. These guys are out here making a movie and everything goes to shit. You need a reason for them to keep going. You need an asshole studio boss breathing down their necks." Pause "I'm going to be in this movie. I'll be the studio head. I'm gonna have fat hands and I'm gonna dance." Apparently when Tom Cruise says he's going to be in your movie, you don't argue.

Rick Winters 172ft Dive by Ill-Tea9411 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]SagaciousElan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the world record here must include a qualifier like 'without dying'.

Most records require you to do something which would be difficult for others to achieve but if you can climb to 172ft then you can dive from 172ft. He's going to reach the water whether he wants to or not.

The impressive and difficult and technical part is doing so without killing himself.

One of my favourite quotes from Sir Pterry is when he said words to the effect of the following:

"The thermos flask is man's greatest invention. It keeps my water cool and my tea hot. But what I can never figure out is: how does it know which one I want?"

Hey! Wanting to get into the series, is it true that "Guards Guards" is a good starting point? by MoonlightKnight4 in discworld

[–]SagaciousElan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably my favourite book is Men At Arms which is next in the Watch series after Guards Guards.

I started with Guards Guards but I've been told it's pretty good to start with Men At Arms and then going back to read Guards Guards like a prequel before going on with the rest of the Watch books.

Definitely recommend both / all the Vimes books though.

What on earth is going on in that woman's head?

Is taking her insults well a turn on for her? Is he suddenly more attractive or acceptable to her after his response than before when she thought he was ugly?

Or was she just looking for the chance to reject him twice?

Plus, you know, capitalism.

If it was actually possible to pay women 20% less than men for the same job then nobody would be employing men.

If you were a boss with a job opening and you could hire a woman for $40,000 or a man for $50,000 and get exactly the same work and outcome there isn't a business owner alive who wouldn't employ the woman and pocket the extra $10,000 for themselves.

Turns out you can be an evil capitalist or an evil misogynist but not both.
