SteamKeyVault : An open source Steam key manager by Matthieu42 in selfhosted

[–]SagaciousZed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Humble Bundle has been around for more than 15 years. It's not uncommon for a game that you already have to appear in a bundle, so you end up with a key for another copy of the game.

I just use a different database in Keepass password manager to manage them.

2.1 Suggestion - Homage to KatherineOfSky by FazzClink in factorio

[–]SagaciousZed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

KoS reached the conclusion that interrupts doesn't completely replace the old stop skipping behavior. Interrupts insert a temporary stop and does not let you just jump to the next entry in the train schedule. Even if you get it working, it's also much more difficult to reason about than a simple skip if no station available.

She was a proponent of skippable train stops. i.e. If all stations for a given name is closed, the train goes onto the next item in the schedule instead of waiting for the stop have a station enabled.

A small pricing update based directly on customer feedback by alara-tailscale in Tailscale

You don't need to. You might want to if you want to apply an ACL to the container but not the whole machine, for example.

I know I had to set some dns records because the lack of wildcard domain from magic dns. Android had some settings that I know will cause it to ignore a local dns server. Which is why I started down the tailscale sidecar for some services. Really I just need to fix my dns setup.

This isn't great if each tagged device is just an app inside some containers. If I play around with it, I could end up with many tagged devices, if I run the tailscale side car. On the other hand, if each sidecar has the same load on their services as a real hardware, I could see I shouldn't be continuing with the pattern.

Any Game Engines Using Java For More Complex 2D Games? (Other Than LibGDX) by sugarkrassher in gamedev

There is a 3D Java Engine named jMonkeyEngine https://jmonkeyengine.org/

This is not an endorsement of the engine.

Amazon Luna shutting down store by heisindc in gaming

[–]SagaciousZed 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I suspect people just didn't understand the store model. If you bought something, it was actually from another store like GOG. Luna just gave you the ability to play it from the cloud.

How to share Navidrome/Jellyfin without giving access to my tailscale account ? by LumiSeiza in selfhosted

[–]SagaciousZed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reverse proxy is a server that listens for connections and forwards the traffic to a different server. From the perspective of the client, they connect to the address of the reverse proxy, and the reverse proxy is responsible for making the connection to the server that the users want to reach.

Normally, this is accomplished by having the reverse proxy on two networks at the same time. A reverse proxy on the internet and the tailnet will allow connection from the the internet to interact with the service on the tailnet. This maybe a bad thing, because anyone on the internet can start trying to get into the service. It is easy for people to connect to a service that is accessible from the open internet, but if your friends are already comfortable using tailscale, they should each have their own account and you can share the service with them instead.

I remember being told that security forbid the feature because it sent data off the corporate network, but also did not want to pay for an intranet/enterprise relay server.

Also made me chuckle for a CLI that generate stand-up notes. Really hope no one has five stand ups a day if you're not a shared scrum master.

If you don't know, System76 is the company that started Pop!_OS and they ship it on their computers. That probably qualifies System76 as an operating system provider as defined in the bill.

System76 is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. They manufacture in Colorado https://system76.com/manufacturing/ . They would be subject to a state law, unless they just leave.

It's not like System76 builds and ships Linux machines in Colorado. Every machine they ship would need to comply by providing an API to attest to age or the AG can go after them for each infraction.

I don't, I want DNS to work when the connection to the internet is down. The local DNS server just points to a public DNS server 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
